1911 College Baseball Champions?

I picked up this RPPC on eBay and it just arrived.

I've tried to google college baseball, 1911, champions, etc.

I really have no idea what team this is.

Can anyone help?


It is not postally used, but on the back in pencil somebody wrote "Dad & Carl Schweppe on this picture"

Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know but the obvious guess would be Nebraska.

and I googled that too. Northwestern as well.

searched for a listing of College Baseball Champions as well.

So far I am shutout. Can't find anything that would give me a confident identification.


Stuff like this bugs me until I find out.... which is why I don't know why I buy these things.

Guys, that doesn't strike me as the champion baseball team of all colleges and universities in 1911.

It looks more like an intramural team that was the "champion" at a college in 1911.

Those guys just don't look that dominant or tough. I think a few of us could take them on if we had a few weeks to loosen up.

I don't think it's Nebraska. I've never seen the N with a circle around it associated with Nebraska athletics. And Nebraska would have called themselves "University" Champions most likely unless it was a team like the Ag college or the law college within the university.

No telling, but there wasn't any college championship in 1911. The uniforms look nice - I doubt it was an intramural team if such a thing existed.

Try the 1912 Spalding guide - probably available as part of the cd set sold on ebay - and just look at the pictures. It's a long-shot, but you never know.

I checked my 1912 Spalding Guide the first thing this morning and couldn't find it. Saw pictures of high school teams and every minor league, but no college. Found that strange.
