Default The most expensive W560 in the world....

Even if it (card shown in link) were labeled correctly it would be maybe 350-500, imo. The asking price on it is a bit high but it is a scarce card....The seller went with the flow on not knowing and mistakenly identified it too....I will sell mine for less than half of his asking price!!

I'm still trying to keep my W560s at PSA 6 or it would surely be worth consideration. Or if it were feb. 14 and not april 18.

best,
barry

I don't understand why that type is considered a W560? It seems most if not all W560 have real player photo depiction or as usual am I missing something?

Correct - it is nothing like the W560 set. I have found several players/celebrities in a similar design to W560 that some people *might* consider part of the set (I don't yet), but nothing like this design. I've seen it before, but only on Gehrig. Probably a unique issue.

This card is clearly from another playing card set that is not the W560. I think that the Gehrig card was originally slabbed in an SGC holder with the flip for a generic c1920s W-UNC. I picked up a couple of actress cards which look like they're from this same set, and posted the scans here. There is also a Ruth in this set, which I do not own, which was sold in a recent Huggins and Scott auction.

It's not! This is from a known W-Uncat set, one of which had a Universal Toy & Novelty logo on it, so we know the maker (Jim Elliott). Thus far the checklist of baseball subjects is around 5-6 different. Leon was making a joke about the mis-identification of the set as the MUCH MORE COMMON W560. The card is quite rare and has decent value... just not anywhere near the # here (Leon knew this and that's why he made the joke/post).

Here is an Old Cardbpoard eNews by Lyman/Brett after the cards were discovered...
