I know the dude in the Western Playground set is really cool but Mr.Chance is looking pretty "suavee and deboner" here too. Any one else have some cool cards with jackets, sweaters, coats etc, they want to share....?

Kick a** thread Leon! I've got a couple of Zeenuts featuring sweaters/jackets.

1913 E136 Cartwright:

1924 E137 Gorman:

There are some other cool ones(which I don't have yet, but I hope to someday):

1913 E136 McCredie
1919 E137 Howard
1919 E137 McCredie

Best,
Adam

Can someone please explain to me the sweaters of the NY players in T206? One of you tried a year or so ago, but I still don't get it.

The guy on the far left (Seymour) is wearing something that I can try to convince myself is a normal sweater. It has a strange black stripe over the buttons, and an unexplained fold or wrinkle just above the "NY", but nothing too bizarre. But the rest of them look like they're wearing one sweater from the top of the "NY" up, and a second totally unrelated sweater from the top of the "NY" down. What's going on here????

I have been told that, as a little kid, I called them "daddy suit coats." This information came from a reliable source (mom).

Y'all be glad to know I am installing a new scanner tonight. I figure I have cost myself a fortune the past 4 years on ebay with crappy scans.

Not certain if Howard would be considered a sweater. Underneath, at least.

is the coolest. Lots of John Mcgraw cards have the NY sweater. He was older and probably got cold easy.

Hey Scott I could be wrong..wouldn't be new but the sweater the player in your photo's coat looks very similar to the coat that Dolan is wearing in the card Scott M. posted. Not saying it is Dolan..doesn't look like him but maybe another player from Phila. that played around the time the Dolan card was produced. Either way ( if i'm right or wrong) it's still a nice looking photo. Also the Dolans an e97 proof right ?

I really don't hold much hope of id'ing the photo. All I know is it is probably from the west coast.

Zach,

Your observation is pretty good in that the jackets look remarkably similar with the three stripes at the bottom of each sleeve and the pairs of buttons down the middle.

Scott Fs portrait looks like his jacket has a dark collar whereas the Doolans looks to be lighter but the jackets do look pretty similar. Probably was a popular style jacket in the day.

You are correct that the Doolan is an E97 B&W "Proof".

Scott M.
