Default Need Some Help Confirming Existing Cards ...

Posted By: JamesW

Hello all,

I'm starting a Bob Bescher collection and need some help confirming the existence of his cards.

What I'd like to know is if the following cards exist.

From Bill Heitman's T206 Monster Book it's possible that the following backs are used.

T206 Bescher, Cincinnati (Portrait):

T206 Bescher, Cincinnati (Hands In Air):

Piedmont – Series 350-460 – Factory No. 42 – 4th Dist. – State NC
Polar Bear – Factory No. 6 – 1st Dist. – State OH

Uzit – Factory No. 30 – 2nd Dist. – State NY

From searching eBay auctions, I've confirmed that the BOLD backs do exist. From reading about the T206 backs on http://www.T206Museum.com I'm not sure if the American Beauty 350 Series without frame really exists. From the article, it said that the American Beauty without frame was mostly found on cards that were issued in both the 350 and 350/460 series. Was wondering if anyone here on the board could confirm any of the other backs?

Also, was wondering if anyone could confirm the existence of the following T205 and T207 cards.

T205 Bescher:

American Beauty – Factory No. 42 – 4th Dist. – NC (Brown)
American Beauty – Factory No. 42 – 4th Dist. – NC (Green)
Broadleaf – Factory No. 25 – 2nd Dist. – VA
Cycle – Factory No. 25 – 2nd Dist. – VA
Drum – Factory ? – ? Dist. – ?
Hassan – Factory No. 30 – 2nd Dist. – NY
Hassan – Factory No. 649 – 1st Dist. – NY
Hindu – Factory No. 649 – 1st Dist. – NY
Honest Long Cut – Factory No. 60 – 2nd Dist. – NY
Piedmont – Factory No. 25 – 2nd Dist – VA
Polar Bear – Factory No. 6 – 1st Dist – O
Sovereign – Factory No. 25 – 2nd Dist – VA
Sweet Caporal – Factory No. 25 – 2nd Dist. – VA (Brown)
Sweet Caporal – Factory No. 25 – 2nd Dist. – VA (Red)
Sweet Caporal – Factory No. 42 – 4th Dist. – NC (Brown)
Sweet Caporal – Factory No. 42 – 4th Dist. – NC (Red)

T207 Bescher:

Anonymous – Factory No. 3 – ? Dist. – ?
Anonymous – Factory No. 25 – 2nd Dist. – VA
Broadleaf – Factory No. 25 – 2nd Dist. – VA
Cycle – Factory No. 25 – 2nd Dist. – VA
Napoleon – Factory No. 240 – 1st Dist. – PA
Recruit – Factory No. 240 – 1st Dist. – PA
Recruit – Factory No. 606 – Dist. – MD
Red Cross – Factory No. 10 – 5th Dist. – N.J.

The T205 and T207 in BOLD were confirmed by the Library of Congress web site.

And finally, need help with the different color backgrounds and overprints on the E94 George Close Candy cards. Also, if you do have an E94 Bescher overprint, please include the front background color.

E94 Bescher:

Blue Background
Gold Background
Green Background
Olive Background
Purple Background
Red Background
Overprint – Your Out! If you don't eat Close's Oppie Dildocks
Overprint – Close’s Oppie Dildock
Overprint – Blome’s Chocolate
Overprint – Three Strikes!
Overprint – Close’s Candies are Pennant Winners
Overprint – A Base Hit! Close’s Sponge Cake
Overprint – Home Run!
Overprint – Oh You Fan! Eat Closes Candies -- Only 1 known, has Bobby Byrne (Gold) front

The BOLD E94's have been confirmed by either eBay auctions or http://www.caramel-cards.com

You can either reply to this post or send email.

Thanks for any help given.

Since Bescher is found with a Recruit back, there should ostensibly also be examples with Napoleon and Anonymous (Factory 3, LA), since these variations are supposed to exist for all common cards. The Louisiana Anonymous back is just supposition, however, since they are very rarely seen. I have a Ping Bodie card that I bought from Scott B. on eBay recently with this back; he is usually found with either Recruit or Napoleon.

He would not be found with any of the other scarce backs.
