Default Facsimile Baseball

I saw that this morning. The seller has the ball in his hands and he either can't see that it's a facsimile baseball, or, the seller is intentionally trying to sell it as a original.

Considering the seller has zero feedback I might be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I have been sent facsimile baseballs many times to authenticate by unknowing people outside of the hobby.

Oh come on you cynical "forum guys"...

Don't you think it's possible that every player signed his name perfectly straight, with no overlapping ink? And that the autos were so carefully penned that the ink is perfectly uniform throughout?

You guys are far too discriminating. If it were a fake, you coud see the autos from a further distance away. Nope... this one is good

Seriously... I have trouble believing the seller is simply just naive or negligent. The tiniest amount of effort and observation would reveal (even to the biggest moron) that this ball is stamped.

Well, since it's a "haha" thread, here are 3 that made me chuckle...

1. A horerendous attempt from a "zero feedback" seller. But it does come with a COA from the world-renowned Gallery of Legends. I guess you'd call it a legendary fake...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Babe-Ruth-autogr...item3cb1bcf262

The next two are legit, but still elicit a good laugh....

2. I've always wanted to spend $9K on a Ruth signature that contains his first name and a quarter of the letter "R". It's just so worth it to have half of his autograph for such a reasonable price...

http://cgi.ebay.com/1-1-Babe-Ruth-Si...item43a2191920

3. Last is something I've always wanted to do... deface a perfectly good Babe Ruth autographed piece with a modern sticker that comes perilously close to the signature. It just wouldn't be the same with a "lonely" autograph to look at. I'm sure that in 100 years, when this piece is up for resale, it will mean a lot to the buyer to have that cheap sticker in full view.

Honestly... why can't an LOA suffice (and if you absolutely need the ugly sticker... for Heaven's sake, put it on the back side).

Can someone tell me the point of these? Is it to educate people as to what their signatures should not look like? These are horrendous, but they are 1 of 1 (very meaningful when assessing fake autos...)

On your most recent post, agreed, WT heck are those? Esp the "H L Gehrig".

I saw that Gallery of legends piece of garbage. Just awful. and yes, the sticker on the Ruth PSA, why would anyone do that? Far as the "babe", what waste. a Half a sig is better than none tho.

I actually think that is cut from correspondence like a Christmas Card or such and said Babe "and" Claire Ruth. What you are seeing and "buying" is Babe and an ampersand.

Yeah... you're absolutely right. So I suppose to get his full name on a cropped piece of paper, you'd only have to spend $18,000.

here's a good one for the weekend....It must be real because Mantle signed it in front of him at a show in NJ. What a clown.

I noticed that ball this morning. They all say the same thing when you challenge them, "It looks just like all of the PSA and JSA Mantle that are on Ebay now."
