I think it could be but he is inconsistent in his signature. I didn't see another incidence of the "tail" like that. But could be. He is all over the place.

This is one of those signatures that will forever be a mystery.

Send Mike Piazza the picture on Twitter @mikepiazza31 and ask him if he signed it.

What are the chances that doing that - not specifically with Piazza, but with any celebrity, either through the mail or in person - will result in the person saying "yes, I signed it" whether or not he really did?

My thinking is that people on this level sign so many autographs that they're not going to remember a specific item unless it's an extremely unusual piece, so some of them might say "yes" just to be nice, whether or not they really did sign it.

Here's a video of the wrestler John Cena signing 3,000 photos. He might remember signing the photos as a whole, but I doubt if someone came up to him with "a" photo from that session he'd remember signing that specific one.

I think the idea is that the person might recognize their signature rather than the specific item itself.

FWIW I think it matches up fairly well to the signature on the old Vero photo. To be honest I can't think of any other "MP-loop" it could be from that time period.

The chances are about as good as finding someone who remembers him playing for the Marlins. It's a longshot.
