Great item John! My son is fascinated by pirates (not sure if that's a good thing ). I've picked up a few of these cards for him. My way of justifying card collecting as a "family project" to the wife!!

That's a great way BTW to get someone into collecting if he's into Pirates embrace it with cards, FYI there are also some very reasonable UK tobacco sets that have pirates too. Cheers, John P.S. Just make sure it won't turn to Pittsburgh Pirates there's one card that can be kind of $$$$. Last edited by wonkaticket; 12-11-2013 at 06:07 AM. |

I'll check out the UK pirate tobacco cards. I've also picked up a Pirates brand back with a Chinese warrior on the front for him. That's about the closest I'll come to owning a T215!! And I've floated the idea of a Honus "Pirate" as a nice "cross collecting" piece for him. Quickly received the Heisman from my wife on that one!!

When purchased originally I thought this was a Piedmont counter display used for single cigarette sales, but after looking at it closer I believe it to be a counter ashtray.
Note the strike marks on the side a match would have left. Well loved, but cool none the less. |

Agreed, that Virginia Brights Pirates piece is amazing John. To keep the Virginia Brights theme going these two large advertising pieces (8"x13") were more than likely displayed in a general store to market Allen & Ginter Richmond Cigarettes. A couple wonderful cigarette making gals!! (CJ in pic used only to give you an idea of actual size)
These similar poses are found on N46's which I have one. |
