Hi Brian P.
My current set (2nd set) consists of the subjects on display here, and 44 commons. Therefore, if my math is correct, my # is 93. . . . . . . . TED Z T206 Reference . |

Hi Ted, nice tough cards. The total I come up with is 95. Possibly the difference in our totals is that you have shown the Tinker and Chase cards, which are only one point, and thus I have counted them twice (both as part of your 44 commons you mentioned, and since they were scanned for the post). Let us know what the official total is and I will get your Kraken # up there.

I just updated my Excel spreadsheet, adding all 121 cards to it (previously, I just had the cards I actually own reflected on it), and including the weighting in Brian's first post. I got a total number of 250 also, so it looks like the numbers are correct.
My number of 93 is also correct. Steve

Re: E90-1, The Kraken (AKA The E-Monster) - post your collection progress
The latest revision brings me up to 190, if my math is correct. Perhaps someone would be kind enough to double check for me. I lack Jackson, Keeler (throwing), McLean, Miller (no sunset). O'Connor, Richie, Sheckard, Stahl, Stovall, both Wagners and both Youngs.

RE: Kraken
Picked up the O'Connor and Young-Boston. Still need Jackson, Keeler-Throwing, both Wagners and Young-Cleveland. Hope to knock one more off the list by the end of the year.

Thanks to Mark Macrae for knocking the tough Jerry Upp off my list. Slight bump to 113 for me.

Way to make a big Kraken splash upon entry into the E-Monster sea.
And Anson is correct, the Wagner throwing is one tough thummergummer, definitely worthy of its 10 Kraken point status. Your Cy Young Cleveland is no slouch either...good luck on the pursuit of the final ten cards you need. Brian |

The Butler did it!
One of the few cards I still needed has arrived.
Ok I’m corny, but I was saving this player for the penultimate card to the Kraken Quest. (I’m not buying a Joe Jax so I will be pleased with the rest) I was saving Butler, a single kraken pointer to use the corny title of this post but I grew restless. Finding cards in this set ain’t easy... I bought it early. Kraken Keeper could you plus one for me? Congrats to the other recent incoming cards too. My man Anson is right on my dorsal fin!

The Butler did it with the lead pipe in the Conservatory. Congrats on your deduction powers, but I always had the suspicion that sneaky John had a hand in advancing your collection. I will plus one you right now!

Joining the list here, i have 19 cards, but some of the harder ones already clocking in at 61 points. Slow slog…picked up 2 in REA last night, got fatigued on all the lots…would have preferred a group! My best are a speaker (psa 2), a Mitchell (raw), Cobb and Red Keeler. Wish I had prioritized a long time ago (as I am sure you all are thinking….). It has become one of my favorite sets.

That's a great Speaker, Paul. A PSA 1 sold for $5760 last night.

That was a strong number! Saw that. I love that Speaker card and pose, it’s one of the best cards period.
I remember when i bought most of the tough ones in a Clean Sweep Auction (8 years ago?), i would buy cards like that i liked and then think, what am i doing buying random cards (i am pretty big on set collecting and having a purpose to my buys besides “cool card I will buy some of those”)? If you are going to set collect you have to buy the big ones first or its hard to ever finish, and I did some of that with those E90-1s back then, but never got the Jackson and haven’t made much more progress yet…stared at many of them. But BOY am I glad now that i did buy things like that…i also bought a Wilson Franks Williams like that, because I love the silly hot dog package floating on the cards…and it was Ted Williams, no great risk or leap of course….went for almost $20k last night??! |

Nice posts today to reawaken the Kraken. And puckpaul starting strong with some heavy hitters...I too admire the Speaker and the red Keeler.

Is this Speaker the same one that just sold via PWCC in raw form? It looks very similar.
Tedzan’s post from 2017. Ted if you’re still around would you confirm? Quote:
