Default Any American Caramel experts?

I have a couple of questions and looking for some help...

Was the 1922 e121 set ever reprinted?... meaning are there a lot of “fakes” out there? And if so, are there any fast and easy ways to identify non-originals?

Is it safe to assume that the majority of raw out there for sale on eBay and such “safe”?

Thanks for the guidance in advance.

Googled it and yes 1972 TCMA 1922 American Caramel E121 Reprints can be found quite easy.

Here a copy of a Ruth

I think TCMA reprinted these. They are on the board and can tell you more. I have never owned a TCMA, but the backs say 'TCMA reprint'. If that area has paperloss, then that is a bad sign. I don't know if Fritsch reprinted e121 or not. These cards are not very expensive unless they are a hofer. I would not hesitate to buy a raw one on ebay, but I would look at what other stuff the seller sells.

Everyone should expect that if there is a scan of an item on the internet there is probably a fake/reprint of it somewhere. It's America (actually more like the world we live in).

Even more so with black and white cards like E121's there have been fakes of these going back almost 50 years. I would take my time learning about them before buying any raw copies from sources that I did not trust 100%.. good luck
