Default Technical Question About Posting Images

Posted By: Paul

I just revived a thread from last October. All of the images I posted are gone, which is what I expected. They seem to disappear in a week or two. But some of the other people's images are still there. How do they achieve this sort of timeless image posting?

I post images on my website and link to them so they are always online until I erase them.

Paul, what Robert said. I always upload pictures to my website and then just link to my website image and it will always appear until I erase the picture from my website.

I suspect some free uploaders only allow the pics to stay up for a limited duration, while, as noted, a website owner can let the pics stay up for as short or as long as he or she wants.

imageshack.us and picasaweb.google.com are two easy to use, free services that keep the images indefinitely.

Default Technical Question About Posting Images

Last night we got the new s/w installed for the new host. It's still going to be a while but we are making progress. It is a Vbulletin s/w.....which might be the most advanced bulletin board s/w on the internet. The issue is going to be keeping it simple (to look at) as I think it's use will be fairly easy.

To this question....the Net54 temp files only do hold scans for about a week or a little more. I do both, link from my site, and use the temp folder here....but also, I have unlimited temp folder space on Net54 while others only have a small amount (maybe 512k).....regards

that if you change the name of a file in your ImageEvent or Photobucket or other site or move the file to another folder on your site that the pics you have posted will disappear.
