Default Wagner and Young unc? cards - Any ideas?

Posted By: Art M.

A recent estate sale in Pennsylvania turned up the following cards:

"Young" and "Wagner" (along with a previously sold "Coveleski").

I have been unable to find these in the catalog and wanted to ask the board members for any information they might have.

Here are the details:
These cards measure 1 1/2" wide by 1 5/8" high. (About the size of the W555 cards).

Black and white pictures surrounded by a lighter green outer border and darker green inside border.

The last name only is printed in the outer light green border at the bottom.
Players shown are "Young" (pitching) and "Wagner" (with bat).

The cards have blank backs and seem to be hand cut. Maybe cut from a candy box?

The image is below, but a low quality photocopy is all I have right now.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Oops - edited to say that I didn't realize you already discounted them as not being W555's! Neat nonetheless!

They're not W555s but closely resemble the set. I've seen the Wagner before but never the Young. In the last Lipset auction Lew sold off an Oscar Stanage that is from the same W-UNC set. W555s have the name of the player along with the team inside the frame with the picture against a lighter color background, these don't, they have only the last name in all caps in silver letters on that outside border. Possibly some kind of cutout from a candy box.

There first image is another from the same set as Art's Young and Wagner, the second is a W555 Gibson to compare the two.

There have been a few popping up as of late.
Unlike the w555 that share common caramel poses, I have not seen these wagner and young poses before.

I would guess some kind of box cutout.
