Default Jim Kaat Auto

I am looking to add another autographed 1963 Fleer to my collection and came across this card:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/141304140873...84.m1423.l2649

The auto looks close to other listing with PSA Authenicated autos, except for the first "a" in the last name. With the authenticated autos, the "a" starts with a straight line that crosses the lower leg of the "K" and moves up from left to right. I'm not enough of an expert to know if his auto is completely consistent.

Any help is appreciated.

I have a baseball , an 8x10 , and 4 index cards from the late 1980s all in person and they all favor yours with the exception of the starting point of the first "a" in Kaat as you list. Mine have the straight line leader into the "a". I also have a hand written note to me that has a variation on his last name formation that I never seen, but it is definitely his signature; and it has an "a" that is like yours on the card. Everything else on your card looks like his signature, so the difference in the "a" maybe a signature variation that is occurring over time. I would like to know when the card was signed out of curiosity.
IMO I would say the card is ok.

Not sure. The description on the BIN only says that the seller bought it as part of a large collection. But, thanks for weighing in. This will get me to the half way point with getting autographed 1963 Fleers.

My 'Kaat' looks just like yours (with the little flip at the left top of the 'K'). I recently acquired a bunch of non-HOF'ers from Kaat's playing days and earlier, and in comparing my signatures to other examples I was surprised at how much variance there is among most players' signatures - the 'K' in 'Kaat' is all over the place, but obviously there wouldn't be anyone out there making a living off forged 'Kaat's. We question every single variance in our star HOF'er autographs, but some of it is probably just the players changing things up for reasons we'll never know.

Perhaps Kaat had a different signature for each of his 9 lives?

The hand written note that I mentioned that I have looks just like this example. Clearly different from his other signature but real nonetheless . I still believe the card is good.
