You can see them in the May pick up thread. I am away from my computer or I would post them here, too.

Nothing wrong with getting some desirable ones right at the start.

Purchased a couple of low grade commons today. Puts my number at a whopping 14! I blame this thread for sucking me into loving this set.
In case I start having trouble finding low grade raw commons, do any of you guys building this set ever buy low grade slabbed E90-1s and crack them out for the binder? With the exception of a few of the big boys, that's what I would like.

I actually keep them in the graded slabs or have them graded by SGC if they aren't already..mostly because I like how these colorful cards look in the black slabs. I put the slabs in 4 pocket pages and keep them in binders. I know, takes up a lot of room, but man do they look good!

Default Big boost

Mr Kraken Keeper,
I was able to acquire 4 more cards from my E90-1 Hero , Cory.

They are not just the single point variety either.

Please add Bill Sweeney, Cy Young (Cleveland) , McLean and Shean to my tally.
Some tough buggers in that group!

Big thanks to Cory, I’m really thinking I might be able to get near 200 someday.
That’s my goal...since the whole Kraken isn’t likely to happen.

My Kraken is now 150.

Always glad to have had a small part of sucking another victim down into the depths of Davy Jones Locker. Enjoy all the creatures lurking down there!

Well, I keep seeing other cards that I like, but I can't stop buying these! My number is now 19 with the purchase of a low grade Overall, Summers, and Stone (No Hands). Still not a big # and not high grade, but these are addictive. I collected postwar forever, but I am as happy with these as I was any NM 7 from the 60s.

Thanks to the great Thromdog sell-off of 2019, please bump me up to 165 to reflect adding the Clarke-Pittsburgh and Keeler-red portrait cards. 11 to go but...

Been a little while since I added a card but I can be slightly bumped up to 99 with Keeler throwing.

Nice card. I love the pose on this one, and your example just screams "I'M OLD"! One more common and its 3 digits for you.

Duffy was a toughie.
But now he's in the fold.

I missed Jeff's sale or I may have acquired a few more Kraken points.
But with this squid, patience is prudent.

Please edit my score as your time will allow, Mr. P.

Very true. The E-Squid does not tolerate impatience. Congrats on the pickups Brian (my collection still remains Duffy-less) and Andy (O'Conner is a key 1 pointer).

All of this talk about Duffy made me work a deal for this one that had been on eBay for some time. Comparing it with others that have sold, I got it for a fair price. Trimmed on bottom but I'll take it. Bump to 106 requested!

Default Big Move

Kraken Krazies,
I made a big move this week.
Large gratitudes to board member William C. for working out a deal on 5 more cards equaling 19 (Hey Nineteen!) Kraken points!!

Brian, please boost your records up to 179 for me. It'll be tough sledding to get much further but I have a few more that wont be too bad. The Kraken wants us to quit. I'm not going to

With apologies for the lousy picture, it's still better than none.
Mitchell, Gibson, Stone, Willis and Clarke are now joining the others.

Brian, I think the picture shows that this gang of 5 is resting comfortably on the plush carpeting of their new home. Great pickups...Mitchell and the Clarke Pittsburgh are on the well established toughie list, and the Gibson back showing and Stone are ones that only recently gotten more attention, and a great Willis to boot, which is one of my favorite 'blast of colors' cards from the set.

The progenitor of this thread gets tagged for 179!

Brian

124 it is Larry. To join the Brians, you either have to legally change your name, or add more E90-1 cards to your collection.

I think the second choice is more fun and involves less paperwork.

That is a lot of different E90-1s. Good luck in the rest of the quest. Eventually I need to pick me up another one or two. Neat cards from the Monster of Caramel sets.

Delivery coming on another big one. And a medium too.
I’m so close to my goal of 200 ish.

I’ve no desire to buy the Joe Jax or two Wagner cards. (The throwing Card is nearly as unattractive as the Cy Young Cleveland card that I got last year)
Maybe the batting pose some day...

Anywho,
I’ll scan them after they arrive and then ask our venerable scorekeeper for his mathematics...
The Kraken is showing some cracks as I inch my way upwards.

Default The Calamari Bake

I was able to add a baker's dozen points to the Calamari quest to beat the Kraken.

My scanner remains out of commission for a bit longer but I wanted to post my update, so I took a cell phone pic.

Not pictured, but revered is the Bob Bescher I picked up from Ed Hans. Yep, Ed Hans made me a great deal on the Bob Bescher E90-1 that I added to my stack. I sent small money, and Ed Hans sent a big 3 pt card.
Vote Ed Hans!

The pictured card is the 10 pointer. Almost no way to get this card for small money. But knocking Tris Speaker off the list is worth it.

Oh Tally Man, please put my total at 192. Its been a fun ride!

Thanks for the shout out, Brian. Not sure I'd have sold it to you if i had known it'd put you that close to me. Still have quite a few left from the recent Lelands lot.

Congrats Brian on the Bescher, a sneaky tough one, and the Speaker is impressive, and one of my E90-1 dream cards that may never come true for me. You're Kraken all of us up!

Welcome to the fray, Ken. 122 points is both accurate and a nice Kraken starting number.

Hi Brian,

I've picked up another Fromme to replace the one that went to Brian but I don't know if you actually lowered my Kraken number at that time. So if you did lower my number, you can bump it back up one, but if you didn't lower it, please leave it as is. I just love the Fromme card for some reason so I'm super excited to have another one.

Still slowly crackin' at the Kraken here!

Thanks all,

AndyH

The blue uniform on the blue background is quite enticing, especially when set off against the striking green grass. The previous update to your number came in 2019 when you added a Fromme with two other cards, so your number shall remain the same until you take another leap into the deep blue Kraken sea.

Brian

Okay fellow Kraken-heads,
I am bumping this thread to announce the arrival of a card that bumps my Kraken tally over the double hundred mark!

Thanks to Tony B for the Leach (throwing) I am at #201.
Exclusive company for certain!

Congrats Brian. 201 is a serious Kraken number. Glad you were able to find another one you needed.

Congrats Brian...you have moved near the Kraken head of the class. Proceed much further and then the pupil shall become the teacher.

I just picked up another e90-1 of Bob Groom with a really cool miscut showing the card adjacent to Bob. Picked up from another board member, thank you so much for the card.

Be interesting to know who was next to Groom on the sheet.

It looks like it is possibly another Groom. Here is my adjacent pair, thanks to the tipsy printerman that worked on the Thomas card.

I shorted myself on first count. I have the Sunset Miller which I only counted as a 1. Also added Bemis and O'Connor. So 4 more tentacles on my Kraken.

Kraken sighting reported so I went to have a look. He took me by surprise but I was able to get in some good swings and get four more hits on him before he snuck away to hide again, waiting for one of you to find him and try to slay him again...

Please add 4 points to my Kraken number with these four additions:

Keeler, pink background portrait
Tannehill, Jesse
Bransfield, P on Shirt
Donlin

The Fromme is a dupe that will try to find a new home with someone else in a trade some day. And the Bridwell is a E92 of course, but was part of the trade that netted me four of these cards.

Thanks,

Andy

Four points added, and I have declared 11/22/2020 as 'Bridwell as Honorary Kraken' day!
