Default Wilmington, NC. 19th century tobacco card auction

Posted By: Rich W.

Any readers visit or phone bid this auction today? The N28's and N29's went high I thought. Very active bidding. I was able to scoop up some group lots at the end, but individual cards were tough. I almost drove down there but thought better of it. I know Zach R.? mentioned the first half of this auction a couple of months ago when the auction house auctioned about 70 cards from this collection. Look forward to hearing from anyone.

Hey Rich, I did go there for their May auction where there were only 7 lots. This time there were over 600 cards in total, including more than half of the N36 set in ex+ shape and many other great lots. I didn't fly down this time, but did win two N36s and another lot. I didn't even try to win any of the N28 or N29 baseball players, the prices were just too high. The owner of the auction house, Kelly, and all of his workers are some of the most honest people you'll ever meet, and i'm glad they did well with this auction.

Zach:

Yeah, Kelly runs a top notch operation. He worked with me on the phone and sent me pictures and info for a week. I was phone bidder number 42 and his staff executed all my bids so honestly. I won 7 lots between lots #98-#109 and a couple single cards (2 N36s, Miller, etc.). I was very pleased with the 3 lots I won in his last auction.

It was a great grouping of cards and I thought Kelly was great to work with as well. I had what I thought were fair bids in on a bunch but won very few. I picked up several of the Consolidated Ladies of the White House cards for a collecting friend and was happy to win the N19 set.

Keith:

Strong bid on that Pirates set. I really thought my $2100.00 bid would be enough, but it opened for $2400.00. I did get the Great Generals lot which I was pleased with.

congrats on the Generals Rich. Another set you don't see offered often. I thought since the complete set was there, it would save me some time .

For those of you that would like to see this great bunch of cards.
