Default Jackie, Josh Gibson and Campy???

too bad it's hammered, but...2 3/8 x 3 3/8 snapshot photo...maybe it's just wishful thinking, but it sure looks to me like
(L to R) Jackie Robinson, Josh Gibson and Roy Campanella...

no location is mentioned, nor is it dated.

None of the three look like Jackie Robinson to me. The person on the right looks a little like Roy Campanella but he seems a bit too thin/wrong body type.
Just my opinion.

It does not appear to me that Robinson or Campy are in that picture.

I don't think that any of those three are pictured either.

I'd agree with the general consensus. Assuming that the hypothesis was that Robinson is at left and Campanella at right, then Jackie absolutely dwarfs Campy in this photo. Jackie was a couple inches taller but Campy was a big guy and the size discrepancy wouldn't have been nearly as evident. Still a cool Negro League photo though--just need to keep researching to figure out who's who.

What I think you have there is a snapshot from the California Winter League circa 1928. There was a negro team called the Philadelphia Giants and those uniforms are a dead ringer for photos I have seen. Biz Mackey, Turkey Stearnes and Bullet Joe Rogan all played for the Giants around this time and they competed against white teams who had major and minor leaguers on them. I know of no team either here in the states or in Latin America Robinson played on called the Giants. Campy of course played for the Elite Giants but those uniforms were totally different than these. I have to get a root canal in an hour so I can't do any extensive research until later tonight.

as stated, it may have been a case of wishful thinking, which is why I chose to post it for the experts on here to determine, as I am aware that many on this board have a helluva lot more knowledge on not only photo identification but many other things sports collectible-related than myself!

I certainly value the observations and opinions that are found on here, and thank one and all for their input as well as any further information which may be added regarding this photo.

I think the guy on the left may actually be none other than Biz Mackey, the catcher who taught Roy Campanella everything he knew about being behind the plate. Pictures of Gibson and Campanella are a dime a dozen compared to what you have here. There aren't too many photographs around from the California Winter League negro teams so this is a pretty rare find.
