Great cards. I actually would love to know what cards are known as confirmed T205 Drum, American Beauty Hindu etc... Is there a thread out there? Am I to assume that Piedmont 25, sweet caps, polar bears, honest long cuts, Hassan 649's exist for all cards? How about cycle? Would love to know.

This is a newer site from a board member and because of that it seems like the list is still being edited, but it is a great start.

Default Confirmed Drum backs ...

According to T205Resource.com, there are currently 21 cards confirmed with a Drum back. I have added a link for the backs that have an image. Lets see if we can get all 21.

1) Jimmy Austin
2) George G. Bell
3) Russell A. Blackburne
4) Albert Bridwell
5) Mordecai Brown
6) Harold W. Chase (border on shirt)
7) Frank J. Corridon
8) Thomas E. Downey
9) George F. Graham (Rustlers w/ blue signature)
10) R. Hoblitzell ("Cin." after 2nd 1908 in stats)
11) Jack Knight
12) A. Latham (A. Latham on back)
13) Briscoe Lord
14) P.J. Moran (no stray line)
15) Frederick Olmstead
16) Fred Payne
17) Jack (John) Quinn
18) Lewis Richie
19) Dave Shean (Rustlers)
20) George Stone - need image
21) Harry Wolter

While looking through some Drum information, was able to find a card not confirmed on T205Resource. Currently I have not been able to find an image, but the description in the auction calls out front and back type.

EDITED: Confirmed T205 with Drum back, not listed on T205Resource.com

1) John W. Bates
2) William Bergen
3) Louis Evans
4) Thomas W. Leach - need image
5) George Paskert
6) Edward Phelps - need image

Thanks,
James

Edited to add: I was the underbidder on a PSA 4 Stone Drum that was listed on eBay approximately three years ago. Trying to dig up the scan now...

Default Let's start a T205....DRUM roll call....show us your DRUM's

Twenty-one T205 subjecte confirmed with thr DRUM back. That's only 10% of the basic number of subjects in
the T205 set. I really expected more than 21.

In fact, I will venture to predict that any (or all) of the following T205 guys will eventually be discovered with
DRUM backs............

Bates.........confirmed
Becker
Bergen.......confirmed
Evans
Herzog
Huggins
Leach
Lobert
Paskert......confirmed
Phelps
Wheat

I base this theory on my A-B-C-D connection that I have observed in the printing of the T206's with respect
to American Beauty (Black)-Broad Leaf-Cycle-Drum backs. And I think it also can be applied to certain T205
cards in order to determine the possibility of a DRUM back.

Exciting thread! I have images of the following T205 with Drum backs that are not listed above - Bates and Bergen. Ted did mention these as possible in the previous post. Nice work Ted.
Also I show the T205 Paskert as confirmed with Drum back and will try and locate my scans.

Ted that doesn't hold true for T205's. The Cycles don't fit right. I will see if I can find my off the wall theory about back runs and post it again. I believe it may still be posted here as well as what I think are confirmed/possible Drum and Hindu backs. All this I based off back patterns.

Your inputs (Bated, Bergen & Paskert) appear to support my theory. Let's see what develops here, should we get some more new DRUM
confirmations of T205's.

That's interesting. I'd have thought they'd have more St. Louis players. I wonder if getting a batch with few local players made the promotion fail and caused them not to pursue doing more?

The DRUM roster of the T206 set has only 10 subjects from St Louis teams.

Furthermore, if you include T206 guys from Kansas City....there are 3 more.

So, it appears that the Factory location and the marketing locale of the DRUM cigarettes
is essentially unrelated to the guys American Litho chose to print cards with DRUM backs.

So, my point is that it's not unusual to see so few St Louis guys with DRUM backs in the T205 set.

A 4th T205 card (Leach)....of my 11 predictions of new DRUM cards has surfaced. So far I'm 4 for 4 (Batting 1.000).

Hopefully, some more T205 guys with DRUM backs will show up. This thread is exciting (as you well said).

Thanks,

Regarding images for your items #3 and #4......Leach and Paskert......

You had posted a link to an REA auction which depicted a T205 Leach / DRUM card.
What happened to this link ?

Furthermore, Art Martineau reported of a Paskert / DRUM card. And, if Art says it exists,
then I accept Art's verification of this card. Art's knowledge on T205's and T206's on this
forum is about the best. Perhaps an image will eventually show up.

Default Ted ...

... the link I had for the Leach with Drum back had no image, just "proof" that the card existed (since it wasn't confirmed on T205Resource.com). I have updated the post to include the link, but will leave the need image until one is found.

Hopefully you are not confusing my need image as "needing confirmation" that the card exists. If so, then I'm sorry as that was not my intent. I'm using that more so as a reference or reminder that an online image has not been located. There are a lot of members on this board that have a ton more knowledge on T205's than I do, and respect and trust all of them with known front/back combinations.

Thanks,
James

Default The T205 A-B-C-D connection

American Lithographic printed exactly 32 subjects with DRUM backs in the T205 set. We know this based on a T-brand pattern presented last November on this forum.

A=B=C=D pattern

The key factor in this A=B=C=D equation is the Black American Beauty back. Note that a T205 subject with a Green American Beauty back
will NOT be found with a DRUM back.

T205 DRUM checklist......32 subjects

James Austin
John Bates
Beals Becker
George Bell
William Bergen
Russell Blackburne
Albert Bridwell
Mordecai Brown
Harold Chase (border on shirt)
Frank Corridon
Thomas Downey
Louis Evans
George Graham (blue signature)
Buck Herzog
Richard Hoblitzell
Miller Huggins
Jack Knight
A. Latham
Thomas Leach
John Lobert

Briscoe Lord
Patrick Moran
Frederick Olmstead
George Paskert
Fred Payne
Edward Phelps
John Quinn
Lewis Richie
David Shean
George Stone
Zach Wheat
Harry Wolter

The following 6 guys have yet to be confirmed with a DRUM back. But, they are confirmed with the A=B=C pattern. Therefore, I expect these 6 subjects will
eventually will be discovered with the DRUM back.

1......Becker
2......Evans
3......Herzog
4......Huggins
5......Lobert
6......Wheat

Hey guys,

Please chime in here if you have (or can confirm) any of these 6 subjects with a DRUM back.

Default Searching for a DRUM.....

..in my quest to complete my first T205 guy with the A-B-C-D pattern. Any help with completing this challenge is greatly appreciated. Theoretically there are 32 subjects
in the T205 set that were printed with the DRUM. Lobert is 1 of 6 remaining T205 cards that have yet to be confirmed with a DRUM back. Eventually, I expect that Lobert
will be discovered with a DRUM back......I would bet on this

For more info regarding the T205 A-B-C-D pattern, I refer you to this thread......http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...ight=t205+drum

. . .

. . . . .

Corresponding T206 A-B-C-D pattern

So guys......"make my day"....or my week....or whatever....if you have a Lobert with a DRUM back that you are willing to sell or trade please email me......

Default T206 Drum Backs

I know I am hijacking the thread a bit so dispensations asked. The subject of Drum backs got me to thinking about T206 Drum reverses and the best one I ever owned (never held a T205 Drum, ever.) It was a Griffith batting PSA 7 with beautiful violet coloring on the Drum back. (A tear rolls down the author's cheek as he reminisces.) It has long gone into some black hole when I closed down Full Count in 2003 and auctioned off the inventory through Mastro. Any T206 Drum stories?

At the Willow Grove (PA) Show in 1985, a dealer had 4 nice looking T206 DRUM cards for sale. He was selling them for $100 apiece. I offered him $350 for all four.

He declined my offer. I thought about it, and returned to his table a few hours later......the DRUM's were already sold.

What a missed opportunity ! ! ! !

Thanks for posting your DRUM's.

And, you are certainly correct....T205 DRUM's are certainly more reasonably priced than T206 DRUM's.

as soon as I can get some time I will dig out my research from a few try back and post it. Would like to see how my theories compare to what you have. Had them posted to the board but deleted them after some issues with a few guys.
