Default Signed T206 Rucker in REA

This beautiful card went about $2,000 higher than I anticipated (or budgeted for)! If you're the proud new owner, I'd love to hear from you. I just try to keep track of the whereabouts of these little treasures.

Feel free to send me an email at SignedT206@gmail.com

Thanks!

Default Incredible!

What I find truly amazing is that Rucker lived until 1970 so he had a very long life in which to possibly sign some of these. The fact that it went for almost $5000, shows how few of these exist (this is the first Rucker I have ever seen).

You would think there would be more examples due to his longevity but it just shows you the rarity of these little nuggets.

It is mind boggling to think that I was alive for a few years anyway at the end of Rucker's life. I think I'm getting old!

peace, mike

Rucker is tough on a T206, but I have both poses signed. I also have him on a signed T201. I am certain there are more out there. For this to go for $5,000 with the BP is just so surprising to me. That's about twice as high as any signed T206 common has ever sold for -- the signed T206 Rucker throwing pose sold in last year's Heritage Auction for about $2,700. If this is where signed T206 prices are headed, I'm going to have to bow out gracefully from the competition.

You have removed so many from the market that demand for the rest has skyrocketed!

I believe this to be true. Additionally you have raised awareness as to the "coolness" and rarity of such cards...so sadly this is what happens!

It's a double edged sword.

The only way to correct the market is to sell a bunch of them to me for 25 dollars each!

I won the Mcbride. I actually thought you would be bidding on the Rucker, and I didn't want to drive up price, but even if I bid I would not have paid $5,000.

I have certainly not cornered the market on signed T206s. I have exactly one dupe. However, all my posting and sharing is a double-edged sword indeed. But, I'd much rather share what I have and risk getting priced out of the market than not share at all. I'm constantly inspired by the cards people post on here. If I can return the favor that's great! Keeps the hobby going.

I beleive that I have told you this before...please continue to share! I'm sure I speak for many of us; we NEVER get tired of seeing your collection. I have exactly 1 signed t206. I couldn't imagine 30ish(?). I was the high bidder on the McBride for about the last 3 weeks. I was hoping to get it for a steal at $1000. Wishful thinking haha.

Thanks for the post, Brendan. Would you mind sharing a scan of your signed T206 here? I always love to see them!

The Rucker may also have brought a premium due to his recent scintillating run through the Mr. T206 Competition right here at Net54 (hat tip to BicycleSpokes).

Seriously though, is there any trend in pricing where the attractiveness of the card might influence the price when it is signed? If I have to choose between owning a signed photo of Bea Arthur or Cheryl Tiegs I am going for the latter even though her signed photos must be far more common.

(Note: hypothetical examples may have been influenced by the recent poll on the age distribution of Net54 users).

In 2007-2008 I bought a total of nine T206 signed cards over ebay and one on BST. This first signed T206 was Rucker who I bought from a fellow in South Dakota for a whopping $65 (it was signed on the back in pencil). Purchased a signed T206 Marquard for $400, double-signed Wheat for $250 and many commons including McBride, Meyers and Snodgrass in the $300 range. I got bored of them and sold them for a little bit of a profit.

I was able to pry most of these from you eventually. I still have your Rucker and Meyers, but I upgraded your Wheat:

Oh, and Brendan sent me a scan of his Doyle to share. Great, clean blue signature. Lovely card. Was once part of The Great Pittsburgh Find of Signed T206s in 2007, from whence the Meyers described above came as well.
