Not positive but I believe its from the 1942 College east/west all star game held in New Orleans. I tried to confirm and found one attached to a pennant but the photo wasn't large enough to make a positive ID.

...but now that I see your photo again and see the baseball attached, I'd say that's probably wrong.

It looks like the 1942 East/West game was held in San Fran and the 1943 was held in New Orleans.

Randall, I wouldn't swap out your baseball charm just yet on that beautiful pin. They moved the 1942 Rose Bowl from Pasedena to Durham, so it makes sense they would move the 1942 Shrine game as well. But as you correctly noted, the Wikipedia source lists the Shrine game played in New Orleans in 1943, not 1942. As is the case with some pins, you can find information to support different interpretations as to its origin. Perhaps the wikipedia source is incorrect and perhaps it is correct. This thread isn't about an All-Star game played in New Orleans in 1942 or 1943, nor is it about baseball or football. So hay, enjoy your pin.

Randall,
I would swap it out as wikipedia is wrong about the date they put in as 1943. The game did indeed take place on Jan 3rd 1942. If you google East west shrine game 1942 and not look at wikipedia you will have your answer. So change away! Also read the story about5-6 down on google Memorable Football Games 7 as the game was played to a 6-6 tie and why they wouldnt ever have the game in New Orleans again. Also the 1942 Baseball All Star game was played at the Polo Grounds In New York. So my question which has always been is why put New Orleans on a baseball pin? Answer is it isnt baseball related its a football pin.
