I would like to take a moment to post my thoughts on a company that was at the Philly show. Sportscard Guaranty Grading Company.

WOW! Let me tell I was floored by the customer service of SGC this weekend.

I submitted a very rare card and instead of just slabbing it blindly, they took the time to double check with a known hobby veteran and expert. I thought this was a great thing to do and I was very impressed.

Next they gave me a trun around time on a few cards I submitted. Shows get hectic, crowded, and it is impossible to determine volumn of submissions. Well, not only were my submissions completed early! They were delivered to my table! WOW!

Over all rating for SGC this weekend from me is PERFECT!

Most of you know that I am not a huge fan of grading so that should make these comments in bold print!

My thanks to SGC for constantly bettering their service.

Also, when you go to their booth you actually talk to someone that knows the item in your hand.

I looked at the PSA booth and am guessing those young ladies probably are not pre war card savy but I could be wrong. They did seem very friendly and I guess they are just accepting submissions so what do they need to know ah? It is nice though if you have a card question that you can actually ask the SGC staff.

A while back I called SGC on the phone and received what I thought was poor customer service and stated such on the board.

Thinking everyone could have a bad day I recently gave them another shot and sent in my first ever submission. The customer service was no just adequate but incredible throughout the entire process.

While I was in contact with them I mentioned I had a card that was not secure in one of their holders and they asked that I send it in. I did and they put it in a new holder and sent it back with my initial shipment and a voucher for a free grading submission to cover the cost of my shipping the card back.

They are first rate and at this point I couldnt imagine sending a card to any other grader.

SGC treated me the same way this weekend at the show. The turn around time on my cards was incredable-about an hour. Brian also took the time to explain to me the reason for the grades given. SGC/Brian Thank you.

I would just like to echo the sentiments of the previous posters.
I am in the process of a rather large submission with SGC that Brian is helping me out on
and I could not be more impressed with the over all customer service I have
received from him.

Though SGC does quality work, I think we are seeing the dividends of being fortunate enough to hire a quality person to a job and then letting him do it. I said as much in a thread last year about "new guy Brian". SGC was lucky enough to hire him and smart enough to get out of the way and let him do his job.

Though it is blasphemous on this board, if PSA had hired Brian I can imagine we (probably not Dan though) would be saying similar things about PSA.

SGC is great at what they're doing because they not only offer a decent grading service they offer great customer service. Oh yeah, I think everyone knows this and I'm just repeating most others sentiments.

That wasn't a psa bash on my part, I hope. Actually that's one of the nicer things I've said about them.

I agree I have had very few direct experiences with them but all have been very good.

In fact I've finally decided to get right into the deep end with grading and have decided that over the coming months I will be submitting my T206 set to SGC for review.

I submitted my first few raw cards at Valley Forge I even had some other non T206 put in holders as well. I will also be moving all of my PSA cards over as well especially on T206; I'm looking forward to it. Who knows it might even be fun?

I am not saying they would have fired Joe Orlando. I am saying that Brian if good enough that is PSA had been fortunate enough to hire him and let him handle customer service many of us would be impressed with PSA. However from your yelling I will add you to this list of those who wouldn't be impressed.

Unlike many, I have not drank the SGC Kool-Aid. I have problems with SGC for consistency, mislabeling, and improper identification of issues. However with Brian on board many of these problems are taken care of in a timely and professional manner.

Those guys are tough...LOL the Devlin has a small stain where tape use to be no paper loss just a small sheen that can be seen when tilted.

I'll keep him of for now in the set he looks good enough for me...LOL

Looking forward to when I finally get to met Brian, Michael and Sean. I agree Brian has been awesome and a big asset to them, love what he has done to their forums.

I do think Sean and the rest of upper management set a high customer service standard years ago and that filters down to all new employees.

I had my first in-person experience with the SGC folks at last year's national. Courteous, timely, and fair. For this year's national, I plan on bringing a bunch of PSA-graded cards and having them re-slabbed in SGC's much more attractive holders (hope they meet or exceed the minumum grades so I don't need to keep them PSA!). I think they do a great job with pre-war material and that's all I collect, so my whole collection will eventually be SGC.

Agreed about Brian at SGC. He is awesome! He was incredibly helpful for me at the National last year.

By the way, will SGC be grading at the Chicago Sun Times show this weekend? PSA's website indicates that they will be grading.

Glad to hear about Dan's positive experience. SGC once mislabled one of my submissions. I called and it was resolved within a week! I really like their customer service. Everytime I have spoken to a person live..I got my answer within minutes. I didn't have too many SGC cards prior to joining this board..but now I get all my prewar and odd ball post war type cards graded by them. The black borders and their ability to configure their inserts to most card shapes are a big plus! happy.gif
