Very gutsy of you Ted, deleting your posts. Especially your name-calling ones.

Real backbone there.

(Do you think if you delete them, it will be like you never wrote them?)

Ted deletes ( is there anyone on this thread who is more bitter than he is?)and Jim C does not answer a direct question, which I believe I asked twice. I think non answering tells us the answer. We would never have heard of Barack Steven if that was his name.
and another tidbit from Jim C -"best wishes for a Palin presidency in 2012", after Obama has served eight years, Mrs Palin will simply be the answer to a trivia question and a punchline for Leno and Letterman.

Finally something you and I agree upon, as well, Jeff!

Well done!

Wow! Crandell didn't know that "Mongoloid" was an offensive term for a person with Down Syndrome?

Lot of things I don't know Dan and this obviously one of them.

I would like to apologize for my use of the term "Mongoloid" which I thought was just another word for someone with Down Syndrome. I think it said "now considered offensive". Whichever, I would never insult someone with Down Syndrome knowingly and I apologize for having used the term

You may want to brush up on your etiquette, there, Jim.

Jim- I have a 38 year old brother who has Downs Syndrome and I feel the term "mongoloid" is extremely offensive. My brother (also named Jim) is the sweetest and most loving child God ever put on this earth. My mother had Jim when tests in this area were not routinely given to detect problems like this in older women. My mother, being extremely intelligent, pleaded with her physicians early on in the pregnancy to have the test (I believe it is called an amniotic tap) done because she had strong concerns about the possibility of an over 40 year old woman having a child born with Downs Syndrome. Unfortunately the local physicians did not find it necessary. I only wish I had had my law license then...
If you truly didn't know how offensive the term is, Jim, I won't condemn you for using it, but hopefully now that you are aware you will never use it again.
Bob

Touching story Bob. We live and learn.

I did not know it was offensive and I won't use it again. I'm sorry.

David, I never thought it possible but you've singlehandedly managed to make Jim C. seem sympathetic and Scott Elkins normal. Congratulations.

Dan,

Either Jeff does not know yet or he doesn't want to tell us--I think we have both asked this without getting an answer.

Considering I asked the question twice and got no answer, I would have to assume that Barack Steven Obama would not have been used if that was his name.

David, I had totally forgotten that one. Hilarious! Sounds like we may have to give him two spots on Mt. Rushmore after today's day in the market!

Hooray for Gordon Brown and the Brits!!! Another lesson at how slow and inefficient our own government has gotten.
