Default Identification of 1934(?) Cubs Issue

Have 6 2 x3 Cubs on cardboard: Grimm, Gulat, Hack, Hemsley, May(?) and Tinning. First saw them with a group of W574 in Chicago 40+ years ago. I have seen an information about there origin. While they appear very similar to the large Cubs team issues I have checked to see if there identical. Considering I have only a 1-3 at a time they don't seem to be a team set. ANy info would be appreciated. Have a scan available.

Send me a scan to leon@net54baseball.com and I will post it for you. We will have a much better chance of figuring it out. That said, if you don't know, I dunno if we'll have a lot of luck....welcome to the fray too.

John, I believe this is the set you are referring to...

I think I have owned this Hack and a Gudat (may be able to find a scan of it) over the years but that is all. Really tough issue albeit a bit unappreciated.

There are at least 2-3 varieties of those. I have them listed as a 1932 Cubs team issue. (not mine any longer)

I had complete sets of Cubs and White Sox years ago. Pretty sure they are a team issued set. Bought mine at an antique store. Sold years ago. There was not that much interest when I had them. I think it was 30 something cards for each team.

Default Origin of 1934 Cubs Issue

I obtained my 6 with a near set of W574s in Chicago. The thought I had then was that IF the W574s were Chicago based the Cubs were issued as 'add on" to the recognized W574s (with all American League teams). They are the same (unusual) size.
In nearly 50 years of active "looking" I've never seen evidence of a correspondingly formatted 30 card team issue for either Chicago team. The Cubs in that period issued large paper photo packs of 30+ cards, nothing in the small format
