Default 1969 MLBPA baseball pins

I picked up about 9 of these today at a local antique mall, and I know nothing about them.If anyone could give me information about them,I sure would appreciate it-such as,who distributed them? Are they rare,or pretty common?Any idea on what they are worth? Here is a list of the ones I got-

1)Sandy Koufax Los Angeles Dodgers (red & white)

2)Tony Oliva Minnesota Twins (blue & white)

3)Eddie Mathews Milwaukee Braves (red & white)-2 of these

4)Bob Allison Minnesota Twins (blue & white)

5)Duke Snider Brooklyn Dodgers (red & white)

6)Willie McCovey San Francisco Giants(red & white)

7)Norm Cash Detroit Tigers (blue & white)

8)Stan Musial St.Louis Cardinals (red & white)

The Sandy Koufax & the Willie McCovey are slightly larger than the rest, and around the edges of all the pins,it says--1969 MLBPA Mfg in USA

I would appreciate any info/history anyone could share with me on these.
Thank you,
Sincerely,Clayton

Hi Clayton, what you have are un-authorized reprints of a legitimate pin set issued originally in 1969. The reprints were made around 1983.

The legitimate set had 60 pins, all with blue backgrounds, and all current players. They also had Winona, MN in the copyright. The fakes do not.

There are 36 known fakes including all the names you have listed. The unauthorized set also issued old timers like Musial and DiMaggio.

These are seen frequently at antique malls and flea markets. They have no real value.

Default Pin colors

Hi Randy and Clayton,
I am looking at the Standard Catalog, and the catalog says that AL players have a red border and NL players have a blue border. I have most of this set, and the main thing to look for is the 1969 MLBPA MFG. R.R. Winona, MINN. These are the original pins and the reprints do not say Winona, MINN.

A common in EX condition books at $3. Randy is correct that the reprints are worthless.

Rick

Rick, thanks for correcting me about the AL colors being red. You are obviously correct about that.

Thank you Randy and Rick,I appreciate the response, and the help. It's too bad that they are reprints, but thankfully I spent next to nothing on them.I'll take a photo of them, don't have a scanner. This is a classic situation where I wish any and all reprints of anything said "reprint" on the item. Thanks again!!
Sincerely,Clayton
