Default T206 size

Hi

I just bought a raw t206 card but the size is a little off on the short side. Is that a concern for a fake card? Possibly cut?

Thanks.

What is the back? If it is an American Beauty, it may be fine. American Beauty backs are cut short side to side.

Default T206

Sizes are all over the place. Many are small including all or almost all American beauty’s. But other backs also have major variations in size. Post a scan. You will get plenty of opinions on a t206.

Yes, we'd really have to see it.

American Beauty are usually very narrow, a few are full or nearly full size.
Most other brands are generally around the listed size, but with a lot of variance even for original cards. I have one that graded , but was nearly as narrow as an AB. Another in the same bunch didn't, as it didn't make the minimum size. but was only as short as the other was narrow.

The early pages for T cards were a tight fit, and a bunch of large cards got trimmed top or bottom to fit the page.

What you really want to look at is the edge quality. The original edges will be slightly beveled towards the back, and the back usually has a ridge on the edge. What's amazing is that those traits survive almost any damage, I have poor-fair cards where you can still feel the ridge.
That's a "feature" of the sort of cutter used and the cardstock. Other trimming leaves an edge that's too clean, and/or shows pulls where the knife snagged a bit.
