Too hot outside so I'm rumaging through some stuff and found this Matty. Measures approx 5 x 7. Any idea on age; issue or value? It's in nice condition.

1948-49 Leaf Premium. I would guestimate it's value at $250.00 to $300.00.

Since there was no mention of Leaf on the piece I couldn't find it in the SCD. I have now. Again, thanks.

Looks like a 1948-9 Leaf ‘Baseball’s Immortals’ Premium

Why do you show me such cool Matty stuff on a Sunday morning?

I don't know value --- but now that it is identified, I guess you can check around for a recent sale...

Though 'modern,' the Leaf Premiums are scarce and desirable as, I beleive, they came one per wax box. I beleive the store owner was advised to give the premium to the kid who bought the last wax pack. Arguably, it's the best post-war Mathewson card-like item you can have.

I agree, it's one of the best post war Matty items. I almost bid on one recently, & will proibably try to get one eventually.

Few if anyone would guess that the cards and the premiums were issued by the same company at the same time. Graphically, the premiums are Cary Grant to the cards' Jed Clampett. It's borderline bizarre that the two came from the same box.
