How do you clean a pin?

I picked up an Honus Wagner pin and it is a little dirty. Would you clean the pin of this or would you leave it alone? If you would clean it, what would you use? Any info would help.

I would be a tad bit careful with a regular paper towel as it could lightly scratch the surface....I would think a damp cheese cloth or other very soft cotton cloth could be best....sort of like an old fashioned baby diaper...Nice pin

Might not hurt to try it out on some other cheaper pin that appears to be similarly made. Don't try to clean the old 'Cracker Jack' pins with water (by the way, they are from Button Gum, not Cracker Jack) as the picture can blur. Speaking from experience..........
