Default Mantle sanity check, please :-)

I recently added this to my collection, and I was 99% comfortable with it.

The seller told me he obtained it in-person at a card show and all his material looked 100% legit. It has all the hallmarks of a show signature... signed quickly and a little "loose" ... all the little "tick" marks are there. Looks very natural with no stops and it doesn't conform to any of the common fake styles.

The only thing that gives me any pause is the M in Mantle... it's a little more "dramatic" than the second M usually is. Yet I suppose that would fit if he was tearing through a stack of photos at a show.

I'm asking for a final sanity check before I file this one away. Thoughts?

The loops (esp the second M) are a bit more dramatic than usual, but like you said it just looks rushed. I don't really like the "n" but it's still not the normal "n" you see on most fakes. I vote good.

Yours is a textbook "neat" Mantle. I'm pretty sure mine is good, but it's certainly a bit looser than the exemplar on the signed ad.

Thanks for sharing.

This one is by Mantle from a book signing - PSA/DNA also.

I found another authentic Mantle with the crossover loop on the second M. Compares favorably to the SP I posted.

First off, if anyone knows where on ebay I can find the above ^ Mantle photo, please let me know. Secondly, take a look at this one.

Really?

I think he means the Mantle/Maris cut slabbed as authentic. I may agree, in that the Mantle looks hideous. Even rushed, it has no "style" and the letter formation stinks.

Gotya. I didn't see the PSA slab image at first... company firewall filtered it out.
