Free cards - for charity.

For the years from 1988 through 1995 my company dealt in automobile and racing cards. One of my most significant financial blunders was to purchase the remains of the A & S Indy card company. This company produced annual sets of Indy Racing Cards for the years 1983 through 1987. We still have several thousand sets of the 1983's and 1984's (way overproduced). They got smarter with the later years.

For the past few years we have been donating these to various church groups in central Missouri; but central Missouri has a limited population, and I would like to move these things.

What we have left are factory sets (about 50 cards per set) for the 1983 and 1984 years. We have boxed these factory sets in empty oil boxes. Each oil box holds from 100 to 150 sets. I just weighed a box with 113 sets and it weighs 25 pounds.

So, until they run out, we will donate to any member of this forum who is willing to pay UPS shipping, a box each of 1983 sets and 1984 sets with the understanding that the member will donate the cards IN HIS/HER NAME, not ours, to a church or children's hospital, or other organization in his/her area, that helps needy children.

All the member is out is the UPS shipping to his/her location and gasoline to deliver the cards locally. We donate the cards, you donate the shipping; or come to Eldon Missouri (CALL FIRST), and pick them up.

Boxes will be shipped from 65026 zip code. You can get on the UPS website at www.ups.com and following the links for shipping costs to determine approximate costs to you.

Sets contain cards of the 33 Indy starters for that particular year, plus other cards to make up 50 or 51 card sets.

I think we still have maybe 75 or so boxes left (several thousand sets). Together, we can make a lot of kids happier.

Jon.

Jon--

What a nice gesture. Although I can not be of any assistance, I know your generosity will be appreciated.

Have a great day!

The kids don't generally care, but here is a scan of the Mario Andretti card from the 1984 set:

He sent me a number of boxes back about a year ago that I donated to a couple of charities in the area. They are nice sets individually boxed in white clean boxes and they are really nice quality.

To piggyback on his generous offer, I'll make the same offer I did on the nonsports side and I'll eat UPS shipping on boxes of cards to the first 5 takers, 10 boxes total as long as in the continental US......

They make great little gifts for kids who might not be getting much else....

Those who posted and/or emailed requesting cards for charity have approximately 50 pounds of factory sets on the way.

When they arrive, please post here so that others who know you will know that this offer is no gimmick; as I am new to these forums and not known to most of you.

Jon.

I donated several thousand baseball and hockey cards about a year ago to a Kids Hospital in Sacramento, CA. I know that there will be some smiling faces.

As Christmas is approaching, I am repeating this offer. There are lots of disadvantaged children that appreciate being remembered, especially at Christmas.

Hi Jon,

Thanks again for your generous offer. There is a great charity in my area called Toy Lift. They collect and distribute toys to children at Christmas who otherwise would receive very little. My email is lmneal4@aol.com.

Thanks, Martin

to whomever for a total of 10 boxes of the cards, no more than 2 to any one person. John's got my UPS Shipper number. GREAT deal, I've gotten 8 or more boxes from John over the years to give out to children's hospitals in our local area.

All this joy and Larry wants to off some cute, little pig and innocent, defenseless birdy. Should break out the *12 gauge in front of the children too? And for Easter we can have the kids have a rabbit's foot hunt... Merry Christmas, I think not Mr Haven.

*"The 12 gauge seems to be the most popular gauge."

PS, Nice gesture all.

Jon,

i work for a non-profit in Westfield, IN (just north of Indy) called Keynote. We would love to have a couple boxes of the cards, which would be especially meaningful for us to use here in Indianapolis. Are any more available? Thanks!

Leon, Randall, and any others. We still have about 25 boxes available. We have used up Tom's generous offer on shipping; but the shipping is not that much. Boxes weigh from 18 to 28 pounds. Go to www.ups.com, click the time and cost link, and figure your shipping costs from 65026 zip code.

Contact information for me may be found at www.thecarburetorshop.com

Also, if you click the user name on posts in this forum, your email program will come up, and you can send the user an email.

Jon.
