Brian will be an advertiser on the board starting today so I figure I will give him a bit of a jump start to show appreciation. There are some interesting items in this auction.

Brian Cataquet has been a reputable figure with a long time presence in our hobby for almost a Quarter of a Century and has achieved the status of being the biggest, most popular and the most knowledgeable expert/seller/buyer in New York City and the Metropolitan area for vintage sports cards.

This is a quote from "About Brian Cataquet" on the auction web site. Hopefully, the lot descriptions are a tad more accurate.

PS--I have known Brian for years and he is a good guy--he is worth a shot

I'm bidding on lot #323 it's a sweet Blue Blazer!

[linked image]

Lot #434 isn't bad either it's a super cool space backdrop...

[linked image]

All joking aside good luck with the auction, nothing against Brian he's just a very funny promoter IMO...

Very good inagural effort. I do however recommend you click to enlarge the scans as the thumbnails are a tad blurry to my old eyes.

Good luck with the auction.

Brian is definitely a marketing kind of guy. Getting past a little of his personal rhetoric I have had several (all) good deals with him. I do understand his personality has rubbed some folks the wrong way before....but he is a good guy when you meet him in person. I wish I had half his energy...

The guy's absolutely fearless!.. Although, I suspect Mrs Tobeecat is eager for Mondays when Brian can return to work.

GIZMO ROCKS......EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN'T GET ALONG WELL ON OUR BOARD HE WASN'T A BAD GUY WHEN I MET HIM IN PERSON AT THE LAST NATIONAL.

He doesn't seem to do quite so well on this board as he was at his tables selling. He had lines of people waiting to peruse his wares. I hear he is now on the National's board too.

If you guys like the Sham-Wow commercials, you need to check out Vince peddling the Slap-Chop. I saw the ad the other day on late night tv and it had me rolling on the floor. Just a few of the choice quotes (you gotta YouTube it)...

"you're gonna love my nuts!"

"stop having a boring tuna, stop having a boring life!"

and there are more,
-Rhett

Edited to add: Is it me or does the Sham-Wow guy look like the mature version of Leo DiCaprio's character on What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

When I was doing the bulk of the work for the Almanac at Beckett; Brian contributed a ton of information. He was very helpful to get new material in the Data Base which he figured could only help him.

Rich
