Different bidders at $214, $412, and $417... so those guys were all mistaken as to what they were buying, mislead by the slip on the slab, or at best they had hopes of buying it, then sending it to PSA in hopes that PSA would recognize the mistake, accept the card, and replace it with a PSA 4 Elberfeld Washington portrait. I doubt that will happen...

Could it be that they recognized the mistake but wanted it anyway just for PSA registry purposes?

I tried bidding on that card in the last few seconds and was sure I was gonna get it around $100 while knowing it was a New York version and then the box pops up telling me to bid more than $200 something and then the screen refreshed and a sold price of $417 showed. I emailed the seller to offer me the card if the 4 last second highest bidders back out of the deal.

As far as registry reasons, its in an old holder so it could only be listed in the basic 524 card set and not the Master Set. For a couple hundred more, you could have the real deal in the same grade.

I was the one who bid $214. for the card and I wasn't mistaken, although I was surprised I was outbid on the card.

I actually put a bid in at $150 only because a Sovereign 150 in the same grade sold on ebay for $151.40 in January 2012. This card being a 350 back, I figured $150 bid would get the job done, guess not.
