Default Can anyone help in making SGC scans more clear

Posted By: Double-P-Enterprises

Hello - I know that requests for "scanner advice" posts have made their way around several times but I have taken that advice (purchasing a scanner with CCD technology) but my SGC scans are still blurry and not near as clear as most that show up on this board. I have no clue about this technology but was hoping one of the "scanner/scanning experts" could show me (and others with similar issues) an easy way to simply create a scan that is clear and reflective of the actual card (if it's possible anyway or whether I have to go back to the drawing board and buy another scanner). I just purchased a new HP Photosmart C7280 and this is the type of scans it creates:

Any and all help is much appreciated and thanks in advance

Do you have a resolution setting that can be adjusted on your scanner.
I would recommend 200DBI if so. Try that and see it if makes a difference.

Tony's advice is your best bet. My scanner software defaults to 150 dpi. That works great for 1953 Bowmans and postcards, but it's not enough for tobacco cards or 1951 Bowmans. Once I switched to 200 dpi, I was amazed at the results ...

If your scanner software has a Descreen setting try turning in on while also keeping the "Unsharp Mask" on. It takes a bit slower to scan but cleans up blurriness and moire patterns that may occur on non-real photo items.
