probably just a little war between 2 or more bidders for a slightly difficult card.

I guess....I just don't know that I'd say that card is much more difficult than any other SL'ger...beats me.

As you and I have discussed privately, identifying the right price for most SL'ers is really a grab bag of who is interested in obtaining which cards when. Though there will always be a bare minimum these will go for, occasionally you see spikes -- far more often, in my opinion, than with HOF'ers -- that are not based on the same criteria many other bidders would apply.

3 different bidders bidding over $800.

Maybe I should buy a couple of ungraded SLs to replace a couple of my better ones, then get the good ones slabbed, and have an auction!

Very low pop card with 2 7s, 1 8 and 1 9. 6s would likely take a big jump if available.

Frank, let us know when you succeed. It probably isn't easy to find a PSA 5 quality card of the Manion in raw shape, otherwise three guys would not have gone bonkers for it.

One of mine has 2 little holes punched in the top corners, I suspect where a kid had them on a string or thread.

One, Ryan I think, has no name. He's about the correct length, maybe a bit long actually, has lots of top border, no name at the bottom.

And a few of them have rounded corners, maybe a couple of creases.

But some of them would make 5, maybe one or 2 a bit more. Finding them would be easy. They're stacked up in a business card box, lock boxed away. Almost all of my T206s are in that little cardboard box. Reminds me of the old days when a dealer at a show would have a stack of T206s a couple of inches tall...

I'll humor you on the pop reports, but what Southern Leaguers are not "very low pop cards" in the 7+ range? The request was focused only on the rarity of this SL with respect to other SLers, who sell for a bit less in PSA 5 form.

I have been following one SLer for about a year now - Roy Ellam - and I don't recall seeing one above a PSA4. The PSA 4 usually sells for around $200...anyone with a cardpricer subscription want to see if any higher have sold recently and for what amount?

guys, this is not a new discovery...as we have discussed, SLers (especially PSA graded) have been on a fast incline for a long time now...they are tuffer to come across than commons and are usually limited in mid-high grades. i have seen 5's & 6's going thru the roof, and people are finally realizing SLers with Hindu backs are extremely tuff.

Michael...this one though just carried a Piedmont back. I just don't see anything spectacular or uniquie with this Manion. The POP report on it are similar to many of the SL's. And the rest that ended last night pretty much went for $400.

Thanks Paul. How were you able to dig up an auction that was nearly a year old?

Brian, That is one very nice card. I don't think I have ever seen anything similar. How did you acquire it?

I noticed a similiar card PSA 5 Hart went for $412 tonight. So I guess it is a crapshoot and when selling these cards you just hope you have a bidding war. CN

Hi Martin,
The Blue Manion came from EBAY a few months ago. It wasn't listed as a color variation, so the price wasn't crazy, but it wasn't cheap either.
Be well Brian

PS Southern Leaguers above 5 are always in demand, as there are a lot of T206 set collectors on the Registry. It only takes 2-3 bidders to take a card to a big price...
