Default GBSCC Shriner's Show!

I'll be there next Saturday! Will be wearing an old Net54 t-shirt, hopefully I can find it. It would be a pleasure to meet up with some members if possible. Who else is going? Shoot me a PM if you would like to meet up. Hope everyone has a great show.

Default Shriner's Show

Reporting back from today's opening day at the Shriner's Auditorium Show in Wilmington, MA.

Although the crowd was decent, the selection of pre-war cards was weaker than in past years.

Plenty of T206s, T205, and some T207s, but the quality was not up to the usual standards.

No card purchases for me, but I did pick up a nice little D&M catcher mask with forehead and shin straps intact.

Show is very strong 50-60s, not as much prewar as was mentioned. I was happy to get a fair price on a nice cobb/jennings t202. Been on my list for a while. Also did well with the 707sc guys. I think they brought the entire inventory.

Had a nice time at the show. I agree the early baseball selection was a little weak, but thanks to Don for my t205 Evers. Also down to 3 cards on my 59 set. Just for fun I bought a 1988 fleer rack box for 15 bucks (my wife likes opening packs).

Just curios, but what does doing well with them mean? My experience, including this show, is 707 has the best depth of inventory at prices that are nearly impossible to justify, particularly against recent auction results??/

Im down to a tough few on my leaf set and their inventory was deep enough to give me multiple options on several cards. Levi spent some time helping me go over them. The prices arent a bargain but I got a volume discount to ease the pain. Perception of value changes as the set gets to the end..

Well I am heading over today myself see if there are any good deals to be had. Sometimes on the last day people are willing to let stuff go a bit less. Fingers crossed.

So I went to the show today and I have to say I was very impressed at the quantity of sports cards etc was there. Great turn out for sure. Prices seemed high as usual. Not a ton of pre 1940 stuff but still some available if you took the time to search for it. Anyway, I didn't up purchasing a single thing when I was there. As I said the prices were realy high and I'm a guy who likes to try to save a buck if I can. I guess you can say I'm a deal hunter. Well till nexts years show.

I enjoyed our time at the show - we did have some issues with some cads taken, but overall had a productive show - Thanks to Just Collect, and some of the other dealers and collectors. We managed to sell the E106 we found and had some good deals with Leighton of Just Collect it was a pleasure to deal with them. See Sports Collectors Daily "vintage buy of the week"

Hi-
I had a great time at the show. It was a pleasure to see our usual small grouping of regulars at the Saturday meet up. I just wish some of the newer folks would try and join us. It was also great to see other members while walking around the show.
I had a great time both buying and selling. Josh Evans at Lelands was as usual my favorite to sell to, and he bought a lot! I really enjoy dealing with him. I also bought several interesting pieces from various dealers. I thought the prices were very reasonable. Below are some of my pickups including a circa 1870s score sheet, a photo, a postcard, and an odd Bond Bread advertising piece (probably cut from something larger).

Have to agree with you, 707 and Deans Cards prices are hard to justify..when you have 6k auctions or sales and you've only sold 160, that should tell you something. But if we don't like the prices, then we go elsewhere..
