Default Are they Red Murray or Danny Murphy....T206 question ?

Am I the only one that thinks American Litho. possibly mixed up these two guys ? The facial features of these two guys are quite similar.

Red Murray was a very popular guy in New York and very underrated. McGraw thought enough of him to bat him in the clean-up position.

Danny Murphy was a hometown favorite with the A's and one of Connie Mack's guys. As promising a ballplayer that Shoeless Joe Jackson
was, when he joined the A's in Aug 1908, there was no way that he would replace Murphy in the Outfield.

The few photos I've seen of Murray and Murphy, it appears to me that this T206 card of Danny Murphy actually depicts Red Murray.

I'm open to your thoughts on this subject; and, hopefully some clarifying photos of these two guys ?

Thanks,

TED Z

Ted, I think they got them correct based on the photos I have seen in the past of them. Here are some Horner portraits of the two...

Default Rhett

I was aware of that photo of Murray. But, had not seen that photo of Murphy. Judging from those Horner photos,
they do have similar noses, chiseled chins, and ears that appear the same.

The photo I had seen of Murphy was quite different from that one.

Thanks much for clarifying.
