Default Ted Z., Bill B., Scot Reader, etc. - Please add Magee Portrait to your EPDG Confirmed

Posted By: Trae R.

I just picked this up a week ago. Ted said he's seen only 1, and this is the first one I've ever seen. I didn't see it confirmed in the super set, or Ted's list.

How many of you are working on an all EPDG subset?

Thanks Trae. I think Ted is at the Reading show and Bill is on a lengthy vacation. If I remember I will email Bill about this with attribution to you. Scot

Thank you, Scot.

So, I've never been much of a pop-report guy, because almost all of the cards in my collection are high-pop and I don't care for the registry aspect. However, now that I have this card, I was curious to see the pop on it. I don't have access to the PSA report anymore, because I let my subscription lapse (SGC rocks), but I was checking out SGC's pop-report and found it rather frustrating to see that they do not distinguish amongst poses.

They've graded 4 EPDG Magee cards, which I believe all to be the batting pose, but I have no way of knowing for sure. Leon has a batting pose, and a couple of others were confirmed in Ted's original EPDG thread, which leads me to my assumption.

Is this correct, that there is no way to tell which pose was graded on the SGC reports? How about PSA? If PSA differentiates, would someone mind offering the pop for EPDG Magee Portraits?

Thanks

Trae,

I think PSA started differentiating the various backs about a year ago, so it doesn't really give you a good breakdown of the different backs per pose. The El Principe pop doesn't show a Magee.

Martin, thank you kindly for your time and pop-report access. So at worst, I am shooting as 1 of 4 graded examples. That's good news.

This one is on his way to SGC right now, so we'll see a 5th on the pop report soon, and I am pretty confident he's the only portrait based on the information I've gathered around here.

Now, getting a purchaser to appreciate the scarcity is an entirely different thing, as we well know.

I wish we could see the pose breakdown at SGC, it sure makes sense. However, I know how the saying goes regarding wishing for things.

First graded by GAI. I feel very special. Hey David, I think we both got ripped on the grades. Oh well...GAI is brutal

Marc,

Nice card. I agree on the grades. Mine has a horizontal crease running right across the white top border (looks like a 1/4 inch of the card was sticking out of a holder and got creased), which accounts for the technical grade. It's really a nice "30" though.

Thanks Marc!

We're up to 4 now (our 3, plus the one Ted has seen), so they're have to be more. Who knows how many are in PSA holders before they started tracking backs? Probably at least a few more.

It is either an SGC 40, or a PSA 3, but that makes two Marcs that have one. Can't be rare at all

Cool, thanks Marc #2.

What I want to know now, is where were you guys during Ted's EPDG survey, and the super set tracking that has been going on for years now? Open source your collection information for the greater good!
