Misprint Caramel cards
Posted By: leon
I picked this up off of our BST pages recently. I haven't seen too many caramel backs, besides the Crofts Cocoa cards and the completely different backed cards, that are miscut like this. Anyone else have any ...thoughts ?? (It's great to talk about cards again !!) |

I dont have any, but I think its better described as a misprint rather than a miscut. The front is cut accurately which to me means that the printing on the reverse was not lined up correctly. Of course, I may be stating the obvious here. |

All I know Leon is that I was pi$$ed that I didn't get a shot at it! I think I missed out by a few minutes. Nice grab at a great price. I too haven't seen many mis-cut/misprinted caramel cards. It's strange since there are so many tobacco examples. |

I agree JK....I should have said misprint and not miscut...I will amend the title of the thread...but the question remains the same . |

what makes this unique is that there aren't many of this type of misprint around. very few pre war this badly misprinted. i wonder was the quality control higher, were these tossed at time of production? or were they tossed by the consumer? i know when i was a kid any miscut or misprint card was thrown away.(by me) |

How tough or rare are blank back caramels like from e90-1 or e92 DOckmnans? Also what kind of premium would these bring? |

I have never personally encountered any blank back E90-1's. The blank back E92's are around. You will see blank back E92's mis-identified as E90-1's by grading companies. |

Of course there have been a small hand full of E93 sheets sold recently and quite a few singles on ebay. My educated guess is that someone got a hold of a few sheets and cut them up, sans backs. I've been told where there's a few sometimes there's a few more....so we'll see if anymore come out. (Good Goudey thread Josh)..... best regards |

Thanks...I think it could be a PSA 8 with a light cleaning . Maybe I will need my tractor to spoon out the creases though. I am going to micro-dermabrasion (sp?) the corners too. Right down to the nubs. It might have to be a "PSA 8 MC" after that though. |

If I recall correctly......you have a Kubota tractor.....that's really a "Hi-Tech" machine. |

I'll post a scan of my E93 Ghost of M. Brown card when I get home. I don't have the scan on my office computer. |

I've only seen two of these E210 cards like this one. The other card was a Walter Johnson. |

I have a E92 Bemis/Blank back, E92 Kleinow/Menagerie Back and a E90-3 Blackburne badly off-set front; probably printer's scrap. |
