When it comes to collecting low end PSA slabbed T206's, what is actually the average market place price to expect to pay for these cards?
I know T206 museum lists these numbers....just wanting to verify what is accurate and what isnt..
American Beauty 2X.....meaning a PSA 2 common that would normally run $32 I should expect to pay $60?

Carolina Brights 5X
Cycle 350 2X
EPDG 1.3X
Hindu Brown 4X
Tolstoi 2X

that's the way I interpret the scale! i think those multipliers are pretty accurate except for epdg which should probably be 3-4X.

Thats what I find so puzzling....I have a meager total of 17 T206's now on my registry. I have one EPDG, a nice looking front, its a PSA 2, I picked it up for about $32 I think....I have one Cycle 350, also with a PSA 2...that I picked up for $25 (even though it looks rough for a 2. I also have one Sleaguer in as bad of shape as they come, with a brown hindu that I don't plan to keep because its not a portrait. But none the less, I haven't paid any of those premiums as of yet....just curious why

i think you paid correctly for your cycle and epdg...the hindu sleaguer is kinda scarce but beat to piss is probably worth 25-35...i'd guess.

I will buy all of the beat up Hindu's; Southern Leaguer or not for 25-35 bucks. In fact I'll gladly pay more than that. Send scans and emails and the checks will hit the mail.

Be well Brian

Don't get too caught up in the superset study, as it is far from complete. It's far too early to reasign back values on the basis of the 15-20,000 cards that have been studied so far.

in your original post you stated epdg's should go 3x or 4x the usual....that would mean on a 2 it should have sold for $75-$100 or no?

I paid $25.30 for the Hoffman PSA 2 Cycle 350 back....what are you seeing the common 2's at?
It is ugly...I bought it just for the back...

Dave,
Respectfully, that Hoffman is a low end 2, but a 2 nonetheless. I think some folks probably were a little turned off by the excessive corner rounding and the rubbed surface and faded color and passed on it.
Still; adding the Cycle Back to your collection is very cool indeed! The back actually looks nicer than the front!
Lastly; if your happy and it's a good value for you; that's all that matters.

We still must buy/bid the card first; using the multipliers only as a very general guide.
I hope this helps your approach on future back variations.
RayB

Dave,

As Brian intimated, some of us believe that the multipliers will indeed
change once the 206 super set gains sufficient data. It is still early to
guess what changes may occur to such standards as T206 Museum. As Peter implicitly indicates
earlier in the thread, it does seem likely that EPDG will be one of the first
to see a change. At this juncture, detailed card analyses such as Ray
just offered coupled with standards such as T206 Museum may be about the
best we have. Thankfully, the super set coupled with ongoing back surveys
does make me believe that the adjustments to the multipliers are not too far in the distant future.

all the best,

barry

now here is a subject that i can speak about with a decent amount of knowledge...T206 rare backs. i have been collecting them for 15 years. i used to chase every single one (including all factory variations), now i just want a nice representation of each brand...i recently have been upgrading my back collection and got some great deals...in the old days i got them raw, and slowly had PSA slab them...

i just upgraded the following cards and here is what i paid for them: EPDG PSA 5, cycle PSA 5, Sovereign PSA 5, ALL for around $150 each, carolina brights PSA 3 for around $250, lenox PSA 3 for about $350...IMO, ALL very good deals...(this was over the past few months on eBay, the prices are to the best of my memory, i could be bit off).

word of advice: hold onto the hindu SLer...they are tuffer to find, i have one in a PSA 1...

terrific information. and you'd hold unto the southern leaguer you say? I do like it, the only reason I was contemplating getting rid of it is because I was trying to stick to the portraits only for now.....and its not the prettiest card.b

you can collect the "Monster" in so many different ways...BUT IMO, i wouldn't limit your SLer collection to just portraits, they are tuff cards to get in general, especially with Hindu backs...

as i have mentioned before (i think to you?)...when collecting the backs, try to grab the tuffer ones whenever you can...good luck!

i paid about $350 for my PSA 3 Lenox, 2 months ago...so this is not that far off (although, i admit i did get a great deal on it...bottom line is, yes i agree this is a good deal, a lenox in vg condition should be in the $500+ area...i was watching this auction end also...but since i have it in a 3 already, i had no desire...you should have jumped on it.

Seems to me the backs multiplier on T206museum.com really needs to be updated. It has the black Lenox listed at 17x....so a PSA 3 or SGC 40 common at a regular sale price of $42....should at that rate go for about $715.

sources, such as T206museum, should just be used as a "guide"...i have seen so much varience over the years on multiplier prices...if someone wants it bad enough, they'll pay thru the roof...plus it ended at an odd time, friday afternoon...
