Default A new "seller" scam email

Posted By: Eric

Today I received two emails that warned me against a certain seller who I had recently bid with. The email was from "moreinfo@Ebay.com". The email mentioned that the seller in question had been suspended by Ebay indefinately for unsuitable contact information and may be in the practice of not sending merchandise to paying customers. I was intrigued by the wording of the email, and thought it to be a scam, so I looked into it. It turns out that the seller mentioned in the emails is not suspended by Ebay, and that the auctions that the email said were terminated were still running. I forwarded the emails to Ebay for which I told them that I expected a follow up report on the incident.
I'm not sure if this is an isolated incident where someone was just trying to get back at this individual seller or not, but there is one other thing to mention here. At the bottom of the email, there's a link to a supposed Ebay site which you should visit if you would like further information on protecting your Ebay account. I didn't enter it, and assumed it was a quick link into giving the sender of this email vital information about your account.
Either way, watch out for this newest scam..
