Default Best Grab from Ebay BIN

Normally, it is slim pickings for me when mindlessly trolling Ebay pre-war BINs but on the theory that "even a blind squirrel sometimes finds an acorn" would love to hear about anyone's success finding just the right card using this medium.
I have one story: Sometime ago, I grabbed a E92 Wagner batting with a Nadja back PSA 3, which had been just listed. A quick check on pop reports showed it was the only graded example. It wasn't cheap but sometimes you have to just pony up to the bar, so I pulled the trigger. It was a beautiful card, but thinking I could reap a fast profit consigned it where it did poorly. Barely recouped my investment. We deal in a fickle marketplace.

It's possible that many people look at past sales, which they base their decision on how much money to spend. I was looking at buying a rare and cool photo on eBay and did some quick research on it to find out it was bought a month ago in an auction for 1200. The seller wants close to 10k now. I'm sure he is flexible on the price, but it's hard to pay that kind of markup in that short time frame.

Just last night a seller that I have bought from a couple times listed a card that I had been looking for. It was a BIN OBO listing. I bought it for a good deal.

Not baseball, but snagged a Tom Brady Bowman RC PSA9 for a $100 BIN...I think I grabbed it within seconds of them listing it.

back quite a while, someone posted a game used Goose Gossage bat for 99 bucks. It was paypal only, and I didn't have it, so while I was signing up as fast as I could, someone bought it.

Recently picked up a T213 Type 1 for a cheap BIN price. The ebay seller even had a best offer option, but I jumped on the full price because it was such a steal. I didn't feel all that bad because the seller had a ton of cards and was clearly a card dealer but didn't know what he had. He had a ton of t213's but all were type 2 minus the one type 1 I found.

If you look hard enough you can find a T213 Type 1 or a T206 Piedmont Factory 42 on ebay for a bargain, although type 1s are very difficult.

Posted my pickup in another thread: http://www.net54baseball.com/showpos...3&postcount=17

About a year ago I found a raw 1914 Cracker Jack of Beals Becker. Super Rare and tough card from the set. BIN was $250 and it graded a 2 by PSA. I end up selling it for over triple what I paid.

Default I almost got one

I once found a T206 Lenox back that was listed at a BIN price of $24.95. But before the seller shipped a member here contacted the seller and bought it for $100 (according to the seller). Somebody here got a great deal but not me.

A while back a seller had a 51 mantle and Mays listed separately. I made an offer for both at what I felt was a pretty good deal for me and he accepted.

That sucks. I had one of the sellers that contributes nothing else to the forum cancel my eBay bid to sell directly to another member once. I called him out on the forum but nobody cared.

A few months ago I stumbled across an uncatalogued jack Dempsey card from South America. BINed it quickly.

Best ever BIN for me took out a major whale on my want list. I'd wanted a Groucho Marx signed item for years and always thought a signed Bowman NBC card would be perfect, but what are the odds of that? Found a PSADNA authentic one early one morning while surfing eBay.

Pricing errors galore out there, just dedicating the time away from real life to find them, buy them, and hope they ship

Just now I grabbed a Diamond Stars Manush "No 'W' on sleeve" variation for a price I would've been happy to pay for the easier version!

Spotted a PX7 Domino Disc Mathewson PSA 6 at a fraction of market value late last night.

It had a best offer option, and I was sure that making an offer would ruin my chances, but amazingly, nobody grabbed it and my offer was accepted in the middle of the night.

My first PX7, and it's Matty to boot!

Not a card, but I picked up this as a BIN. Foreign entry (a different stamp was on the plate but erased poorly so parts of it show, and the correct one put on. ) Catalog value 2250, price 18, not a bad price for the normal stamp.

I've found a few that made me some money, but these 3 are my favorites, because they fit my collection perfectly and were priced very fairly.

Early this month, picked up 1948 Sommer & Kaufmann S.F. Seals #5 for my type collection. First one I'd seen in 13 years of looking and was there at BIN. Not _cheap_, just nearly impossible to find at any price.
