Default Very cool Ruth footage....

When Ruth hits against Chapman (Strikes out I should say), the 1B backs way up and check at how short that RF porch is! Tall fence but probably an easy poke for Ruth! Wow!

What an incredible newsreel. Ruth in his first season with the Yankees. Miller Huggins. And Ray Chapman just 2 months before his death.

Great footage, thanks for sharing. Watching pitchers pitch back in the day looks like it would be BP in todays game.

You have better eyes than mine to be judging speed based upon the grainy footage of the game at the end.

Great footage, thanks for sharing. Look at where Babe’s front foot is at the beginning of his swing and where it ends up….every Coach in the league would “fix” that in a hurry!

Poor Babe had to deal with the mid pitch shadow change!

Depending on the time of year and game time here in KC, there is occasionally an inning or two where the upper deck shadow crosses between the pitchers mound and home plate. Our radio announcers talk about it, and I’ve heard players mention it in interviews. Basically the ball leaves the pitchers hand in full sun and then ‘goes dark’ halfway home.

Sounds like it’s difficult to adjust for that.

So what I’m saying is, Chapman was lucky to have that shadow otherwise Babe would have smoked it

Awesome video clip! Exactly how my dream goes of watching the Babe except in my dream he actually hits the ball and it travels a mile

Wasn't Jim Bagby the pitcher not Ray Chapman?

The video title is June 15, 1920.

Very cool clip. That stadium reminds me of the SF Giants.

They might not have tried to fix it after they saw him hit...
