Default Players name stamped on the back of a T206

Posted By: Keith

I am a novice, but just purchased this Alperman T206. I have some cards that have stamps on the back, but this one appears to say Alperman,2b on back. Has anyone seen this before? I mean with a players name and position stamped on the back? Most of the stamps I've seen are like initials or the cards original owners name or something.

It seems to me it would be time consuming to create a stamp for each individual player/position. Anyone have one of these? I don't understand the purpose of it. Any possibility that this is still an owners stamp, and that Alperman could have possibly owned this card?

Perhaps they were shipped from the printer to the distributor, banded something like cash, and the backs were left showing what brand of tobacco to make sure they went to the right place. There was a stack of each player for distribution, and each player's name was rubber stamped on the back?

Not sure what happened there.
Perhaps someone had a stamp that you could roll the letters/numbers to be whatever you wanted and stamped all of his cards with the names on the back.

...this was not done by the factory. This was a collector identifying the position Alperman played.
