Default Do you have a first edition autographed Hall of Fame plaques ?

Why First Edition Plaques ? Because the Hall of Famer who signed your plaque may not have been alive when the Postcard Plaque was printed. Collectors need to know more about what's on the reverse of you Hall of Fame Postcard before you purches autographed plaques. The slabing companies rarely offer any information about the age of the postcard plaque just their opinion as to the authenticity of the autograph.
Before we get into this I have been active in the hobby for more than fifty years and have lived with many trends and phenomena. Like "rookie cards" "type one photos" "graded cards" "authentic anything" and "game used" to name a few. Did a rain delay radio show When Autograph Were Free and One was Enough.

So what is a First Edition? In the case of Hall of Fame Postcard Plaques the simple definition is the first time an inductee to the Baseball Hall of Fame is represented on the official postcard sold at the Hall of Fame Gift Shop.
Normal business practice for the Gift Shop is to order Postcard Plaques for New Inductees and their needed plaque inventory for the shop. The New Inductees postcards were not for sale until after the Induction Ceremony had taken place. In the past 1964 for instance the printing of the plaques happened much latter and the coded reverse indicates they were printed in 1965. Hobbyist have created many guides to determine when the plaque postcard were created and they are easy to find on-line.
Back in the early eighties a huge yellow and white striped tent was erected behind the Otesaga Resort and the and the public was invited to meet the Hall Of Fame Members and they would sign their yellow Hall of Fame plaques and chat about the best days, life was simpler then. The Hall of Fame recognized the forgery issue and in 1991 introduced the Print Date on the reverse of the plaques, so First Edition would have a print date of July of that years Induction. This is my list a summary of guides that I have found useful.
