Default What did you get in Heritage auction?

I got shutout.

But I did watch a PSA 3 Cobb Green sell for $14,400!

So what did the rest of you win?

The Topps 52 Mantle PSA 7 sure has come back down to earth at $132K, unfortunately I still can't afford it.

I was wondering where it, and the other 52's finished? I did see the Pafko and Mathews fetching some pretty decent money earlier but I have no idea if those were above or below previous sales?
(P.S. thanks for the link)

Shut out in pre-war, but thanks to the hobby's centering fetish I was able to pick up these post-war rookie cards.

Picked up a great looking 79 opee-Chee Gretzky rookie in a PSA 8. Definitely an unusual get for me, but always wanted one of the Great One, and now I have one. I thought the t206s brought some very healthy prices, and some of the early 1950's were a steal (see 51 bowman Mays 6 and 52 topps Jackie 4.5, etc).

Aaron PSA 9 rookie came down to earth in heritage too selling for $192k. Last august Aaron PSA 9 rookie sold for $358k in heritage. Price dropped about in half in less than a year.
Also Aaron PSA 8 rookie sold for $19k last night.

I would imagine there are quite a few collectors out there buried into their 2s-6s. Yikes

I won that 51 Bowman Mays. Couldn't believe it. I went to bed early and never thought my high bid would hold. I'm happy though!!

Oh I am quite certain there are many people who are surprised. Some of them posted constantly telling all of us how it was a new era in collecting.

Some of those collectors are playing musical chairs, and unfortunately, now realize their chair is missing.

You stole that Mays 6. I was the underbidder and went back and forth on whether to re-up, but I didn't, so it's yours! Great card and great buy, congrats

I picked up the exmt '33 Goudey Vance, a card for which I had been questing for a long time, and a Fatima T200 vg of the Cubs. Still amazed at the volume and price levels of dollars thrown at the Willies, Micks, Hanks, Roses, Sandys etc. and the market's ability to absorb the seemingly endless supply on offer by the auction houses. Must be a happy time for consignors of these cards. A brave new world? If so, my target market segment has definitely shrunk.

It will be interesting to see where the PSA 8 Mantle in Hunts' upcoming auction ends up.

Lone pickup. It had great eye appeal. I don't even collect hockey cards or even know who the player was.

I was going to post that I couldn't remember a 33G Lajoie in a 2 holder selling for that much. Within the last year heritage sold a very comparable 2, it was centered better than this one and had a staple hole (this example has a tear). That one went for less than 24K.

I think the "almost" in his comment means he missed on the Lajoie.

I won the 56 mantle psa 8, thought I got a nice deal on that card

Also won the 59 Gibson psa 8, it might have been a touch high but I felt it was still the better looking card compared to the 9 and the high grade sgc

David - you got a great deal on that card. Nice looking 56 Mantle, and price was great as a buyer. Probably the best price I have seen on one in a while and some have gone as high as $12-13k in recent months.

thanks KC

i felt like centering was pretty good, it's not perfect but not noticeably off especially for this set. the corners are nice, right side looks a little rough cut and bottom right corner is touched, again not perfect but not noticeable. great color on this card i thought.

i just felt like the card was in the right holder, and it was a perfect card for my set. i was surprised my bid held up but not complaining!

and at $1750 LESS than the last one in PWCC a month ago, well that almost paid for the Gibson!

It makes me smile realizing that if it were a T206 people would be stoked about the uniqueness and would actually be worth far more than a comparable condition card.
