Very nice collection of T205's on there. Looks like one of the T205 lots has a nice Miller with full B showing and some great HOF'ers too

This Joe Doyle N.Y. Nat'l find raises the total to 9 confirmed cards.

I expect that more will eventually be discovered.

Confused about what a paid ad is? It means they paid to do it.

Really nice looking 2. It has a similar cut with the large left border and a similar blue color shift as this Joe Pelaez Doyle.

I would not be surprised to discover that a lot of old collections that were put together before the error became a big thing are sitting in albums...etc with that card.

well, and I'm playing devil's advocate here, does anyone know for sure how many escaped the factory? I mean the pop lists say like 9 or 10 right? Well, there could easily be another 9 or 10 out in old collections held by people who are either no longer collecting or don't follow the T206 stuff that closely.

I only say this because the player himself. If it was Cobb or Wagner people might look closer at their stuff. But Doyle, Demmitt, Magee (Magie) I tend to think that the likelihood of their being more hidden away rises just due to the fact that many people who stopped collecting years and years ago may not know about their having that much value .

Here's a question:

If you stumbled across a Magie, or Doyle error at say a yard sale or estate sale , would you get it graded and keep it? Or would you have it graded and then put it up with an AH and use the $$$ to pay off your house?! lol

If 7 Cobbs with Cobb backs can be found at once, something similar could happen with the Doyle. An old collection that is just sitting could have multiple Doyles in it.

sure...anything's possible...but realistically it's more likely 7 cobbs would be found based on distribution and star factor...than an obscure variation of an avg player!

Did Mrs. Doyle consider little Joe an obscure variation of an average child? I think not.

Especially if those Cobbs were never distributed in packs or tins , but were given out as a promotional item.

I can't be sure of course, but I find it really curious that two finds account for more than half of the known examples of this card.

Just an FYI - I would not have known of this auction if it wasn't for this post. I have registered, saved several items and have even placed a bid already. I look forward to the conclusion.

Thank you for putting this here. Just thought you should know that this bit of advertising worked.

Default "Provenance"

Anyone else find it odd that at least a few cards in this auction seem to have a "provenance" saying that the card came from the consigner's grandfather?? On eBay, would that not be a red flag for a scam???

I think the buyer got a good deal. He can flip it within a yr and consign it to REA and sell for twice as much.
