Awww...it's just over 12K per card average if you'd like to just buy the 1932 US Caramel set...which BTW is the 4th best overall in case you are competitive like that

Default 120,000

i see the almost complete E90-1 set is going for $120,000....not too shabby..

is that a board members set?

one correction i would like to make for Memory Lane:
they say the set is short 1 COMMON -bob bescher...

Bob Bescher is definately NOT a Common, in fact it is one of the more uncommon cards for the set and the POP reports Validate this..ONLY 11 PSA examples of this card !

if it was so common, dont you think a world class set would have included it to bring it to a true 100%...

Good read, but seriously? The editor didn't know he was referring to the Joe Doyle card?
"It is such a difficult thing to do," Soloway said of completing a T-206 set. "The (Honus) Wagner, the (Eddie) Plank and the (Larry) Doyle cards make it so hard to put a full set together."

Will this become the "new thing" for auction houses now, offering mega- collections for sale outright as opposed to in an auction format?

First Legendary, now this........

The sets are being put out at a much higher price than they would get at auction. I guess sellers are leery of the auction route in this economy. And you can always negotiate.

If that's correct, Barry, I would like to do the same thing with my consignments but unfortunatley they are not worth enough individually for it to make sense for the auction houses although I do believe that there is at least one that offers a "Buy It Now" group of lesser quality items.

I wonder how a complete set of Baseball Hall of Fame "Rookies" would do? Would it be likely that they would sell for more that way via outright sale as opposed to selling each item individually using the traditional auction house format?

Phil- the better the consignment, the more the auction house will work with you. If you have a megacollection, you can dictate how you want your material sold, and for how much.
