The Pin Head alone (although not related to baseball cards) is worth 3x the hammer price, alone.

Apologies to anyone who might take this wrong, but why would anyone NOT be sniping on ebay these days? Besides an occasional malfunction (if you're worried, set a snipe and try to bid live), you practically guarantee yourself not to miss an auction. You might not win, but you won't be caught sleeping again.

Any chance those are not real period pieces? Seems like the majority of what that seller has sold is non vintage, lower priced items. If real I agree that was a heck of a scoop.

Some are period, some are later. The Mecca and Hasson boxes looked right to me. The Sweet caporal packs are period (actually the cig packs looks older - maybe 1900s). The Turkish Trophies, Mecca Paper label and the Helmars are all later - 1920s-30s.

I thought the underbid was just a placeholder?

Completely agree. Even if I see an auction with less than 10 minutes remaining I will use my snipe program. Sure, sometimes they fail (hasn't happened to me). But it's much, much rarer than bidding live since some sites send bids from multiple servers.
