Default Another photo of cards.... you experts ID them!!!!

Posted By: Frank Wakefield

Here are a total of 17 cards.

Some starting hints...

6 HOFers in all.

The 8 cards in the top row are all tobacco cards.

The big card on the right has a ink stamp on the back...

The second and third row of 4 cards each, none of those are tobacco
cards.

Now here's the super hint. The photos of 3 of the 4 cards on the bottom
row are in that great 2009 SCD Catalog. The exact, one and the same, card. SCD lacked images of 3 of those types, and the cards you see were sent in to SCD so they could publish an image. So get out your SCDs and find the page numbers.

Good luck.

Frank.

Top row: 2nd card is a T204 (can't tell who though), 3rd card is T205 of Ed Reulbach, and the last card I believe is an Obak, T-212 (can't tell who though).

2nd row: The Plank and the Lajoie (the cards next to Mack) I'm going to guess are E90-1 cards, but I can't see the backs to be sure.

Mike

The Lefty Grove card is a 1930 W554 (the variation with the name, etc printed at the bottom). The stamp on the back is probably a Bonemerry (?) Ice Cream Confectionary Stamp.

The card on the bottom left is a 1933 U.S. Caramel.

The Plank (3rd card in the second row) could be an E90-1, or an E102, or an E106

Top row is:

Buchner Gold Coin

T204
T205
T207
T209-1
T209-2
T212-1
T212-2

Edited to add: The T212-2 is Ping Bodie, The T212-1 is Stovall (misspelled Stoval), The T207 is Rube Marquard, The T209-1 is Cooper, I assume The Buchner can be any one of several guys as the set repeats poses

next to Bescher is an Ice Cream card of George Uhle--either Harrington's or Yuengling. I don't have a 2009 big book to check.

They used the photos in 2008, too.... I sent the cards in a few years ago, back when they lacked examples of stuff.

And *****Todd has #9

That's Floyd Kroh on that red border Colgan's Chip card. Kroh was with Louisville in 1911 and 1912. He pitched in the Southern Association 1913-1916, posting records of 15-12, 15-14, 17-14, and 15-12.

Good job!

**** Todd is right about George Uhle on that card, it's a Harrington's Ice Cream card from 1929.

The #1 Gold Coin card has a caption of Sutton, third base, Boston.

NO ID on #16 yet.

14, 15, and 16 are all pictured in the big book, guys. Easy stuff, a kid could look at pictures.

******Andy got Charlie Grimm on that W590.

Grimm is on the end of the strip, which is why there's that letter in the left margin, as can maybe better be seen by the photo in the SCD.
