I'm thrilled to have this one. Great ebay pickup from gtp.ro. Since I started focusing on cards/photos with actual female players, I've found that the Star and/or Boston Bloomers don't come up nearly so often as the Western Bloomers. I'm not sure, but I think that the Bostons and Stars came earlier in time than the Westerns:

Although I generally want actual female players, I just couldn't resist grabbing this one off the BST. Very cool. It has a small line of text for McLaughlins Coffee and an 1894 copyright:

And finally this whimsical pickup from ebay - one of the guys from the non-sports vintage board. I'll keep my eye out for these T37's too:

into the women BB thread"-). No matter. Nice item. I haven't seen this one b4 and hope you are not offended that I archived it-something I've begun since finding this forum and something I should have been doing all along. If I owe you anything for doing so..... (just kidding no hate mail please). What kind of back does it have? Interesting to note like a couple of the other teams I count three figures that look like men. Any thoughts? (this despite the fact that my grandma was a wee bit hairy and masculine).

(edited to add your name)

Hi Henry,

I'll post these and a few others to the women BB thread today or tomorrow yet. I really like the pre-1920 cards showing female players - just kind of hard to find. And I'm pretty sure most Bloomer Girl teams had 2 or maybe 3 men on them. Seems I also read here that one of the big names in MLB - Smokey Joe Wood maybe - actually got his start on a Bloomer Girls team.

Agree 1000% Barry, that's why my wife is EXTRAORDINARY, this week anyway!! What makes it even more amazing is that the lady who sold it told my wife she had actually bought it in a big lot of postcards at another sale and kept all the others (old ships and scenics) but had no interest in "the baseball one"...

That's the kind of find we all hope for when rummaging through garage sales. If it helps any with pricing, I bought mine for roughly $350.00 a few years ago (not postally used). It's definitely not an easy postcard to find, but it will show up from what I can recall maybe once every 1-2 years.

I'd never seen one before, never even heard of Masterpiece Jockey Club before. Checked SGC's pop report and they have slabbed one "10" only. The back has an ad for Liberty Havana "A Panatela Stogie, made like a cigar" 2 for 5 cents. And "RAUBITSCHEK'S" on 5th Ave. and Smithfield St., Base Ball Tickets for all games. Absolutely no idea what it's worth...think the $5 though, LOL!!

Fresh from a SGC60, a bit high end for me, but one I had'a have.
A nice "batting pitcher" card.
The back bio doesn't mention along with his 23 wins, he lead not only the AL in ERA with 1.81, but also the majors (Matty with 1.99). That's what I like about the T207s, they make you pull out your BB Encyclopedia (mine ed. 1984). He also had 20 wins in '12 & '13, then his arm and control went bye-bye ......

- (and yes, in case you are wondering about the watermark, I just bought this from Levi this morning, so I lifted the scan)...got sick of losing out on way too many auctions over the past 2 weeks, so I just up and BOUGHT something!

A net 54 search under "Western Playground" should yield some results too as I recall them being discussed on the forum in the past. Great card and set, congrats Bruce.

Congrats on the new find. I am in a bit of a dryspell as far as Lincoln memorabilia goes.

You can post your Des Moines stuff over on the memorabilia board.
