The item is approx 13" x 9.5". It could be an advertising piece as it is made from cardboard. I was able to find reference to some of the players such as Ohl and Ostdiek. They did not play together, although both played in the early 1900's. The photographer is W.B. Sabine. Any help is appreciated. The players names on the bottom that do not show up are from L-R: Ostdiek (C), Redman (C), and Mock (P).

Couple of names are familiar from the 1909-11 T212 Obak series (Ostdieak, Breen). I'm guessing either a Pacific Coast League or North West League tem.

Looks like a team photo. Early 1900s team photos often had the thin photographic
print pasted to a cardboard back. If research shows its a PCL team, it's worth fair
money. The photography studio may be named somewhere, which may help locate and
figure out the team.

Appears Mr. Davis has a nice find. All he has to do now is to figure out the
exact team. Large mounted minor league team studio photos with future MLB players
(especially T206ers) will be in good demand. There's a good chance it's unique.

There's a fair chance this photo belonged to one of the team members, as large
team photos like this were often made for the players, manager, owner, etc. If
you could find out the family this came from, one of the family members may
recall that a great grandfather, uncle or other relation play Pro baseball way
back when.

For old display photos like this, many collectors have them professionally matted
and framed-- style dependent on the owner's taste. This photo would be a
suitable candidate.

OK, home sick today (which stinks, because it is friggin' [TM] out), so I thought this would be a nice little research project.
Could not find an exact team but, some guidelines:

Ostdiek was mgr. for Spokane 1910-13.
Starr played in majors 1905, 1908-09.
McAleese played in majors 1909 also.
A "W. Thomas" palyed a bit in 1908 and Ohl a bit in 1910.

So my season guess would be 1906 or 1907.

Also the players who played in the majors, and I could find, all were from mid-west or the East coast. Even though Ostdiek points to PCL, I would think not. Also if it were PCL, there would be more recognizable names (from obaks, etc). For the same reason I would probably knock out the IL, AA, and SL (t206). Probably a B league team, East coast, mid-west (i.e. Ohio, Mich, etc.).

The answer is definitly out there, please keep us up to date.

It never ceases to amaze me how board members mange to pick up these great items. I cannot recall even being lucky enough to grab something like this. Of course, all of this means nothing if he paid a pretty penny for this piece. None-the-less, I wish I was lucky enough to grab some great stuff that I have seen board members display on this site. Just one of the many reason why I love coming here everyday.

McAleese played for Baltimore in 1906 and given wher and when the others played for known teams, looks like 1907 is the best bet.

It is 1907.

From page 266 of the 1908 Reach Guide. Looks familiar.
