Default Surprising Price?

I don't know enough about how the strip cards are graded, but it seems that if you get a hold of one and chop it yourself and send it in, you would get a nice grade...doesn't make much sense to me as i'd leave them the way they are...but this seems a bit pricey no?

they still have size qualifications to be graded this high(o/w authentic would apply),and most were cut by kids 80 years ago. besides this being an ugly card it is a bargain compared to an exnm goudey ruth. i'd bet there are a lot less of these around.

Definitely more than I'd pay for a Ruth strip card...if I was looking to spend that kind of money I'd rather spend a little more to get a mid grade Goudey or a caramel card.

While on the topic of surprising prices, how about some of those E91's that davidbvintage is also selling, especially the Kling:

I was watching it for a while because the pose is neat and I thought I might be able to pick it up for $50 or so - how wrong I was! Some of the E91's are just way out there...I can't imagine paying that much for a card where the "picture" barely resembles the player who is supposed to be depicted, but to each his own I guess.

On the e91s the only one besides Kling where the price seems unreasonable is the Joe Wood which is over $300 in sgc20.Unless its rare and i dont know about it the Kling might just be an example of 2 people bidding enough to make sure they won the card not thinking that someone else might do the same thing

The #2 bidder needs Wood as one of 2 cards to complete that set.
