Default 77 Venezuelan album

Like the other Venezuelan albums I've purchased it's rough but it has 350 of the 402 stickers in it. Rick

Are you using the site's "Manage attachments" under additional options below when you post?

If so, you can add multiples there. If using a phone etc, I don't believe that is an option?

2.5 Jackie
2.5 Jackie
3.5 Mantle

As a Wally Moon and Ray Katt collector, I was beside myself being able to pick up these Venezuelan Winter League cards that both pre-date their generally accepted rookie cards. Picked them up about a month ago, just got them back from SGC (obviously more for authenticity than grading) - now, they're the only 2 graded examples in the entire set.

Tough grading on those cards, imo. Are there creases, stains or something else that we can't see going on with them?

There is a light crease in the yellow area off Jackie's shoulder.

The bowman had a light horizontal surface wrinkle seen on either side on the Front, and on the Reverse two longer diagonal wrinkles are there. Neither amount to creases. (Hence the 2.5)

Yes they are overly tough lately, people say they are protecting the value of current high grade vintage

Given the wrinkles you disclose here and PSA's own published guidelines,'it sounds like those 2 grades were pretty fair.

Thanks for the explanation.

I guess rules and guidelines are exactly that, but I still can't get my head around some of the grades I see PSA give!

PSA's biggest issue is consistency, especially in the low grades. I have some Venezuelans graded 2 or 2.5 with paper loss on front. This should not be possible.

I agree. Any paper loss that I have seen have been PR-1's at best.

Filing in some more for 1969-the g is on the sleeve, not the card for the Palmer. I still have a few more SPs and HOFers to go on 1969. Also picked up a bunch of 1971 and 1972 cards that I'm waiting for. Down to 1 and 4 cards respectively, the Baker RC and the Rod Carew-Jerry Koosman cards.

...First one of these ....always enjoyed looking at them though.....Chavez Ravine and Sandy Koufax cards and me go back a long way......the instructions along the left edge are to "Punch out and bend back on perforated line".....I am soooo glad the original owner kid didn't follow orders very well...... hey , it was the sixties , young rebels were everywhere.....

Default VIP Party signers cards complete

Just plucked these two from my mailbox. I now have the three VIP party signers covered. I know the Topps is not pre-1980, I just wanted to post the three cards together.

1986 Topps Traded

1965-66 Coca Cola

This one received earlier completes the three.

MITCH f**king Williams, ala Bucky f**king Dent???

as a longtime (suffering) Phillies fan, I actually sent Mitch a sympathy card (c/o the Phillies in the winter of 1993, offering my *sincere* condolences on serving up that game/series winning home run) - I felt bad for Williams, and sat SPEECHLESS in my antique barber chair as I watched the *devastating* conclusion to that game vs the Blue Jays, but I felt horrible for him - AND myself, and suffering Phillies fans everywhere - after the "unreal" became REAL - dude got death threats, and while he DID f**k up, guy had 43 saves, and Fregosi went with what got him there...hindsight is 20/20, but...such is life.

thanks for the inclusion of Mitch, herbc, as while it WAS a dark moment for this Phillies fan, it was a reminder that LIFE - and baseball - isn't always perfect, or predictable, another reason I *love* this game.

Following up that 54 Bowman with another rare Teddy Ballgame. Today is a huge day for my collection!!

I have been working on the '59 Fleer Ted Williams set for a long time. For a good portion of that time, I have been just one card short of complete, needing only the very tough short printed #68. I have known that budget dictates a poor copy, but I have wanted one in a PSA or SGC slab so that I know it's not altered or even counterfeit. PSA 1's don't come up very often and I missed a couple of them. But this week I finally landed what to me is a huge card, and completed my favorite set of all time. This card is in piss poor condition, but IT'S MINE and I love it!

Some of you spend hundreds of dollars on cards all the time, but in my collecting world, $141 is a huge chunk of change. Still, my snipe was even higher, because this was the right card at the right time and I had to have it.

A summary of my journey collecting this set.... In the summer of 2013 I bought my first 3 cards, beaters for $8 total, and I was hooked. Over the next 2 years I chipped away at a raw set, with condition not really a factor. By the end of June, 2015, I had 79 cards and was only missing the SP above. And then everything stalled. My only progress in the past 13 months has been one gorgeous PSA 8 upgrade that was a Christmas gift from my good friend Casey. The card I needed just wasn't available slabbed in poor condition. When it was, my snipes were too low. Finally, Tuesday, after 13 months, I completed my set. Final stats: the PSA 1 SP above, the PSA 8 below, and 78 raw cards..... accumulated with $484 over 3 full calendar years. But today I am DONE.

Thanks for looking!!

Outstanding!!! I am at about 20 cards for 59F Ted Williams but have never pursued due to that one card. Well done. Really well done.

Congrats Dan. It seems as if you and I have a very similar collecting budget. It is fun to look for bargains. When you find a great deal it makes the card even sweeter.

This is what happens when I exit collecting for 20 years. Enter grading companies to call a 6(!) what I would have seen marked as Mint at a 90s card show (or perhaps eBay today).
